A day in the life of President Bush (photos); 6/6/02

In what can be called a massive restructuring and combining of government agencies, President Bush addressed the country this evening and outlined his proposal for elevating the Department of Homeland Security to a cabinet position. In this new cabinet position, the following agencies will be consolidated into one mission, homeland security: the Coast Guard, the Border Patrol, the Customs Service, Immigration officials, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In addition to sharing information among all of these different agencies, the Department of Homeland Defense will be charged with four tasks:

1. To control our borders and prevent terrorists and explosives from entering our country.

2. To work with state and local authorities to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

3. To bring together our best scientists to develop technologies that detect biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, and to discover the drugs and treatments to best protect our citizens.

4. To review intelligence and law enforcement information from all agencies of government, and produce a single daily picture of threats against our homeland. Analysts will be responsible for imagining the worst, and planning to counter it.

The President urged Americans to call their representatives and encourage them to support the plan. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I noticed that too, mystery-ak. Ohio just keeps talking about parties and FOOD and never tells us what time she expects us. Of course, we'll need a place to stay so I suppose she's cleaning out all the guest rooms also. Hey, Ohio, I prefer a firm mattress.

Congrats on the house Nord. A new house is always exciting. Does it have room for your big chest?

I heard he got a new dog. As a major dog lover it makes m sick. He doesn't give a hoot about the dogs. They are there to help mold his image. Don't know for the life of me why. His image was set in stone as a lying, womanizing phoney a long time a go. No dog can save his image.

He should NOT be allowed animals. If I were able, I'd throw myself in front of that poor puppy and take him with me. That PIG should not be allowed to hurt or be near another dog!!!!!

California is such a huge state with many climates. I've just given you the Sac-a-tomatoes version. :o)

hsm, I'll never forget a few years ago, we were heading up the I-5 to Oregon to visit Mr. Inspectorette's family. Just north of Stockton, a double trailer tomato truck had overturned. Talk about your ultimate spaghetti sauce!!! Hubby was brushing crushed tomato out of the wheel wells for a week!

Those two are always troubled and concerned. I wonder if they realize how troubled and concern we are that they are leaders in the Democratic party. Gosh when you think about it if they are the best the party has to offer no wonder they are in trouble.

Thank you, thank you - we're sure hoping to get to see some of the Fox News team. (I just hope I can get hubby to not give a Bronx cheer some of his un-favorite congresscritters if we happen to meet them).

Agreed. Why in the world does he want a dog? The man is never home and lord knows Her Highness is never in residence. Somehow I don't see Hill being all warm and fuzzy with a dog. To me it's the height of cruelty to get a pet who will be ignored. The dog deserves better than that. Maybe we should alert PETA.

Hello everyone. Sorry to have missed posting to last night's dose. Choir practice and other responsibilities here kept me away. (Plus sometimes can come and be awake with the Dose's nightowls ----but not last night.

A lot going on whee I am.

Hope all are well. God bless our President and keep him every day.

Tonight's speech was actually quite wonderful and the President looked great. Same with VP Cheney - his speech to the Board of Home Builders was also fantastic.

With both men you get: Gravitas, no nonsense-ness, discipline along with such steady handed capability - it just drives one maddddddd to hear Rush and the other carpers go on as they do. Thank GOD for these men. And their extremely competent and loving wives and families.

Continuing with the Psalm tonight. Sometimes, I wonder, with all the criticisms, if the President might ever feel as low as David did at times......

But always, always, David would come back to the assurance and rejoicing and praise of the God who brought him through it all. So, I hope it is, for our President.

Psalm 13

Trust in the Salvation of the LORD

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?
        How long will You hide Your face from me?
        2How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
        Having sorrow in my heart daily?
        How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

        3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God;
        Enlighten my eyes,
        Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
        4Lest my enemy say,
        "I have prevailed against him";
        Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

        5But I have trusted in Your mercy;
        My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
        6I will sing to the LORD,
        Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Haha, small waist, my rear! That was quite a rack you gave yourself. It was very becoming on you, especially with the little school girl braids.
