A day in the life of President Bush (photos); 6/6/02

Posted on 06/06/2002 6:00:49 PM PDT by rintense

In what can be called a massive restructuring and combining of government agencies, President Bush addressed the country this evening and outlined his proposal for elevating the Department of Homeland Security to a cabinet position. In this new cabinet position, the following agencies will be consolidated into one mission, homeland security: the Coast Guard, the Border Patrol, the Customs Service, Immigration officials, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In addition to sharing information among all of these different agencies, the Department of Homeland Defense will be charged with four tasks:

1. To control our borders and prevent terrorists and explosives from entering our country.

2. To work with state and local authorities to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

3. To bring together our best scientists to develop technologies that detect biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, and to discover the drugs and treatments to best protect our citizens.

4. To review intelligence and law enforcement information from all agencies of government, and produce a single daily picture of threats against our homeland. Analysts will be responsible for imagining the worst, and planning to counter it.

The President urged Americans to call their representatives and encourage them to support the plan. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I noticed that too, mystery-ak. Ohio just keeps talking about parties and FOOD and never tells us what time she expects us. Of course, we'll need a place to stay so I suppose she's cleaning out all the guest rooms also. Hey, Ohio, I prefer a firm mattress.

I heard he got a new dog. As a major dog lover it makes m sick. He doesn't give a hoot about the dogs. They are there to help mold his image. Don't know for the life of me why. His image was set in stone as a lying, womanizing phoney a long time a go. No dog can save his image.

He should NOT be allowed animals. If I were able, I'd throw myself in front of that poor puppy and take him with me. That PIG should not be allowed to hurt or be near another dog!!!!!

California is such a huge state with many climates. I've just given you the Sac-a-tomatoes version. :o)

hsm, I'll never forget a few years ago, we were heading up the I-5 to Oregon to visit Mr. Inspectorette's family. Just north of Stockton, a double trailer tomato truck had overturned. Talk about your ultimate spaghetti sauce!!! Hubby was brushing crushed tomato out of the wheel wells for a week!

Those two are always troubled and concerned. I wonder if they realize how troubled and concern we are that they are leaders in the Democratic party. Gosh when you think about it if they are the best the party has to offer no wonder they are in trouble.

Agreed. Why in the world does he want a dog? The man is never home and lord knows Her Highness is never in residence. Somehow I don't see Hill being all warm and fuzzy with a dog. To me it's the height of cruelty to get a pet who will be ignored. The dog deserves better than that. Maybe we should alert PETA.

Hello everyone. Sorry to have missed posting to last night's dose. Choir practice and other responsibilities here kept me away. (Plus sometimes can come and be awake with the Dose's nightowls ----but not last night.

A lot going on whee I am.

Hope all are well. God bless our President and keep him every day.

Tonight's speech was actually quite wonderful and the President looked great. Same with VP Cheney - his speech to the Board of Home Builders was also fantastic.

With both men you get: Gravitas, no nonsense-ness, discipline along with such steady handed capability - it just drives one maddddddd to hear Rush and the other carpers go on as they do. Thank GOD for these men. And their extremely competent and loving wives and families.

Continuing with the Psalm tonight. Sometimes, I wonder, with all the criticisms, if the President might ever feel as low as David did at times......

But always, always, David would come back to the assurance and rejoicing and praise of the God who brought him through it all. So, I hope it is, for our President.

Psalm 13

Trust in the Salvation of the LORD

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?
        How long will You hide Your face from me?
        2How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
        Having sorrow in my heart daily?
        How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

        3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God;
        Enlighten my eyes,
        Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
        4Lest my enemy say,
        "I have prevailed against him";
        Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

        5But I have trusted in Your mercy;
        My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
        6I will sing to the LORD,
        Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

Nice photo of W! He looks so much younger and much less troubled and burdened than he does now. However, listening to him tonight was very reassuring. He was calm, thorough and direct. I think the American people will appreciate this speech. He should do more of them.

Hey, Ohio, I prefer a firm mattress.

OK, we camp, so we have sleeping bags and those itty bitty roll out pads that you can put on the basement floor. There's lots of room down there, and it stays really cool in the summer. I figure you can be here in 3 hours, so leave by 10:00. :o)

Mystery, it's an easy 6 hours for you, so you'll have to get started a little earlier.

You can both stay for the clean-up, but the perk is that you get to eat any leftover meatballs, which there may not be many of if everyone on the Dose shows up.

I'll be ready for you guys! Come on and PARTYYY!!!!

(Sorry....the punch will not be spiked.....but it's a tasty mix of Hawaiian Punch, 7up and rainbow sherbet!)

What's Curves for Women?

It's a fitness program that combines aerobic circuit and weight resistance training. It takes about 40 minutes, and they recommend a minimum of three times a week. I've been trying to go five time a week.

It's hard for me to explain the concept: there are about 18 "stations", and you only spend 35-45 seconds on each station, and you do three "laps" or "circuits", then have a cool-down, stretching process. You start out on a jogging pad where you warm up, then proceed alternately with jogging pads to various resistance machines geared to different parts of your body. Most of the resistance machines are great: one of them has helped me tremendously with neck and shoulder pain. THere are a couple of resistance machines, however, that I think could have been used during the Inquisition ;-)

They have a website: www.curvesforwomen.com which will tell you where the locations are. They don't advertise on TV - only in newspapers. They'll give you a freebie trial if you're interested. What I like is that it's only women, and most of the women in the one I go to are not 20 year-old hardbodies, they are real women, all ages (one lady is in her 70's), shapes, and sizes.

Amen to this! Without Rintense and the Dose I wouldn't have a clue what W is up to. I seldom watch TV anymore and I hate having to read through all the 1,000 post threads of late. An appreciative MJY says thanks for all you do :-)

Looks like George W. Bush snuck up on em again. They keep on playing checkers while he's playing chess. But this time he has their queen and it's checkmate.

This will rule the news and the talking heads will be talking about this for quite a while. It will be all good for Dubya and the elections this fall will be centered around wheather the Democrats fall in line, NO ISSUES for RATS to run on..... I love it.

When president Bush called on we the people to call our represenatives I could hear the cold blooded screams from the left side of the isle already. Diane FienSwine look like she was on death row when she said "We should of been consulted" I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair... Sure FinesWine, The President should always consult his enemies before he makes his important decisions, and he should trust you not to undermine him. Yeah right, President Bush was shot in the leg not in the head. FACE IT YOU LOST ANOTHER ONE FIENSWINE

Unfortunately, a few people get dogs for reasons unrelated to love.

I posted 'Bad Barney' because of the missing carpet (in case anyone wondered) cuz I love Barney.

However, I understand he's not to be trusted rug-wise.

Thanks. Actually, that photo is from late April this year. I agree about the President being reassuring and calming. I have a friend that never used to watch the news or pay attention to anything but her soaps, but she loves George W. She is a chronic worrier and after 9/11 she was in a terrible state (she also has a brother in the Army--in Kuwait at the time--and a sister in the Navy.) She said after she watched Bush's speech she felt calm and she knew everything would be ok. That is really saying something, because when she decides to be upset about something, there's nothing you can say or do to talk her out of it. Chalk another one up for W.

A couple of years ago, I was in SoCal in August. I was to stay at the same hotel as some friends and we planned to walk 400 feet across the street to the Ceritos Performing Arts Center to see Michael Crawford in concert. I figured I'd be the only one who would have to take a taxi those 400 feet because I have a heart problem and I knew the humidity would knock me out and make walking impossible.

To my total delight, the WHOLE weekend was humidity free. I walked all over the place with no problem. When I got back home here in the north, I took one step out of the airport and melted. HUMIDITY!

Feinstein said THAT? We should have been consulted.

Gimme a frickin' break. Yeah, I bet W thought he should have been consulted before you all started slinging the mud at him and claiming that he knew about 9/11 before it happened??? Sheesh.

Is it my imagination or is Congress obsessed with being in the know these days? They head their heads in the sand for 8 years during the Clinton administration, why bring them out now? The Dems are pathetic. They just got suckered punch and their response is, "we should have been consulted?" Guess they are still working on that 'secret government' thing.

Her daily doses sure give us a good idea of all the President does. And he does a lot, I had no idea. How does he keep it up?

That long, exhausting trip he took and very little time off, and all the crap he has to take, but I feel like he is so secure in his own mind about the course he takes, he doesn't let it bother him that much.
