Fellow Freepers:
I am sure you are aware that Martin Burnham, the husband of wife and fellow missionary Gracia Burnham, was killed overnight in the Philippines. I am posting this article to give you information on how to express your support for the family.
First, I want to give the latest I have heard on the tv from reporters in the Philippines. The military is still in pursuit of the rebels and have been told not to take hostages, but shoot to kill the Muslim terrorists.
President Bush had this to say about the situation earlier today:
THE PRESIDENT: First, let me say how sad we are that Martin Burnham lost his life. And I will call his parents. I'm pleased that Mrs. Burnham's alive; that's good.
I talked to President Arroyo of the Philippines. She told me that she had called the Burnham parents, and I thanked her for reaching out. She assured me that the Philippine government would hold the terrorist group accountable for how they treated these Americans, that justice would be done.
Now, first I want to let you know about a trust fund that was announced over the television. It is set up in Martin's name and all money will be given to Gracia and her children.

Try to make your subject line clear that this is to be forwarded on to the Burnham family.
On the CBS Evening News, they showed a clip where Gracia predicted in November that they might die in crossfire in a gunfight. Also, Gracia predicted that if they were killed this way, Americans would respond by saying "Well, there goes the Burnhams" and not pay any attention. Please, let's show Gracia we do care. Don't let her prediction come true....let's express our support and affection for the Burnham family. Make sure to let them know that Freepers everywhere are saddened.
