Country singer Toby Keith has some choice words for Peter Jennings.

Toby Keith says the producer of an ABC 4th of July TV special rescinded an offer to have the country singer perform his current hit after the show's host, World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings, heard the song and vetoed it.

Still don't change the fact that he was one of the most talented people of our time........

Umm... Let's just call that a matter of opinion and leave it at that.

BTW, after he was shot in the groin the first time, he changed his name to 1-Pac.

I got a place in the northwest corner of Alabama that I do my deer huntin in.

And you should give me he techno. Electronica is the closest thing to classical symphonic music we make today, besides for classical symphonic music of course.

Come to think of it. The two (classical and Trance) go quite well together.

If you have Morpheus or Kaza check out: Dido (Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion Mix)

My little brother (32) who keeps his new fancy DELL at my house plays techno in the computer/game room all night while he chats up singles sites. I'm used to it...it's ok. I'm too old....in my day it was Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream(i like them a lot), anything by Brian Eno....and later that Enigma stuff....I guess Kraftwerk is like one of the original techno groups. Like Son House is to the Blues.

So you deer hunt....I knew there was hope for you...just an instinctive feeling I've had all along.

Stay Safe.

I bet FOX would do a great job with a special on the 4th.

And three guesses who I'd think would make a great performer to have sing...

My little brother is into some blonde woman who's hot in techno and the other night he was playing a CD where she had done a Chemical Bros remix....her name starts with an "L".....ring any bells?

He was always a NIN and the Ministry afficianado before techno. Jane's Addiction as well....that's a group he and I both liked a lot.

Yes............ it does. I'm sorry, but country is horrid, imbred, flatulence....... :-(

Tex, you must not be listening to the right country artists. Check out Giant Sand, Jayhawks, Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Jon Langford (Mekons)....there's a lot of good music coming out of the fringes of country.

Let's all buy the C.D.

If it tops the charts, CBS or NBC will give him his own special.

Do you know how long Garth Brooks was putting out chart toppers before he got a TV special?

Shalom.

You took what I posted the wrong way. I wasn't making fun of Alan Jackson ( I know Jesus too, lol) I was just expressing my opinion why the news networks haven't given his song any air time.

I didn't think you were making fun - I was taking it one step further. Alan Jackson strikes me as someone I would like to have as a friend and neighbor, and I think the line about knowing Jesus and talking to God was put in there because it is true, not because he thought it would be a good marketing gimmick.

And you're right. Honest, non-threatening expressions of Christian faith are not popular with the TV crowd.

Shalom.

As we wuz saying on another thread about this Bad American (y'all know what I mean), if Toby wanted to be the fave artiste of the annointed and the toast of Beverly Hills, he'd be writing songs about oppression, racism and fascism which are easy to rhyme! Guaranteed top billings, guaranteed untouchable status (with "racism" alone, everywhere even here!) Let's get started:
"Mamma was oppressed by racism,
Victim of the state of fascism,
Drove a prison truck of sexism,
Died of mean-spirited ageism,

CHORUS:

Fido got wasted by speciesm,
Daddy told me to try evangelism,
But I'll cry in my working man's beers,
And I say the hell with classism!"

Take it from there Toby! I'll let you share songwriting credit (with my name on top!)

My home life's had a schism,
Wife left due to Lesbianism,
My son's lost to Liberalism,
I sure did take it on the chin!

AJ has so much class, that the first award at the ACM awards was for "Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)..." he said that he could not accept the award but did so on behalf of the folks who died on 9-11. He said he didn't write a patriotic song for sake of making one and intending it to be so great a draw, and cried backstage.

I love Alan jackson's song but the bit about "I watch CNN" always makes me want to yell "But Why Alan WHY?"

Probably because it scanned into the rhythm of the song...

Isn't it about time we put a boot in Pyotr Jennings's ass?

I was an old-school, classic rocker from the 1980's but that stuff seems so trite and meaningless now. Since the early 1990s, I've been a country music fan from just north of the Mason-Dixon line in New Jersey. Why? Because their songs are about real people, real life, real problems -- and occasionally they mention religion and (shockingly enough) not in a negative way.
