I don't know. I doubt the FBI knows about them that these organizations would want to know. I don't think the FBI is examining them, if the FBI even couldn't stop organizations like Hamas from hetting a foothold in the US.

The Ottoman empire had translators recruited from among it's multitudes of ethnic groups.. Most were allright, but the damage that some did was unrepairable.

Edmonds isn't an Arabic name, so I think it is fair to say that the only country in the Middle East without Arabic names is Israel

I agree with aristeides; Sibel is a common Turkish given name. The Western version would be spelled with a "C" (e.g. Cybill Shepherd).

Edmonds is an anglo name -- British or American. Could be a married name, or could be a woman born of a Turkish mother and anglo father.

Hmmmm....

Sybil spelt as Sibel is mostly Turkish. I'm wavering towards her being Turkish, although I wouldn't normally classify Turkey as being in the Middle East, especially after I found this site which lists donors to a Turkish earthquake relief fund. Someone named Sibel Edmonds donated, but I don't know if it the same one.

A Google search for +Sibel +Jewish also turned up quite a few Jewish women named Sibel so I'm not 100% sure either way, though at the moment I am leaning towards Turkish unless some new information comes to hand.

This site also claims that she is Turkish and mentions the site I posted above as well as saying that the organisation was most likely the Turkish Mafia.

I found this site which lists donors to a Turkish earthquake relief fund.

I saw that also, and there's also a Sibel Edmonds scholarship at Northern Virginia Community College website. No description of the benefactor, though.

Turns out Sibel Edmonds is indeed of Turkish heritage--as well as being a loyal American. See this most interesting transcript from yesterday's (oct. 27) 60 Minutes broadcast.

And what's the likelihood of the FBI translation unit being the only place we have this problem?

Take the case of Jan Dickerson, a Turkish translator who worked with Edmonds. The FBI has admitted that when Dickerson was hired last November, the bureau didn't know that she'd worked for a Turkish organization being investigated by the FBI's own counter-intelligence unit. And they didn't know she'd had a relationship with aTurskish intelligence officer stationed in Washington who was the target of that investigation.

This must be the one married to a US military officer. I wonder which service?

Thanks for the followup on this story. I didn't see the show last night.

You're a voice of reason. Thanks.

Here is a tip for the FBI. Re-translate everything the co-worker has done and see if there are any disparities. Case closed one way or another.
