Silicon Valley entrepeneur Steve Kirsch is only partly joking when he reveals the code name for his next start up: The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy.
Mr. Kirsch has committed $1 million a year to launch the Washington D.C. political advocacy group, and claims to have lined up other donors willing to put up an additional $10 million or more.

We are really winning if the liberals are this scared.
Text is subsriber only..hmm the mission statement is 'finding legal ways to influence policy' which includes pressing the White House-not surprised.

Why should they waste their money? The left has already infested just about every institution in the US.

Why Bill Gates is letting these creeps bend his brain I don't understand. Socialism doesn't work for anybody in the long term.
To: lormand
This ought to be hilarious watching these billionaire fools flush their money down the toilet.
To: codebreaker
On the one hand....This should be VERY interesting....these are BIG CORPORATE AMERICA - what the Democrat's deride......how they team with them will be fun to watch....ON THE OTHER HAND.....nothing here will help the squeezed out Middle Class to whom these people do NOT belong. Going AGAINST "tax reform" does not bode well for US.
To: codebreaker
He He! What's different? The limousine liberals have been following this so-called "new policy" for the last 60 years. Been there, done that. That approach failed miserably and America will not ever buy it.
To: codebreaker
Wait for the editorials in the NY Times, lauding this excercise in free speech and social awareness, written by the same group of "non-partisan" editors that excoriate people like Scaife.

Gates apparently doesn't know who his friends are. If he wants to be left alone, and to pursue capital, he best join the Right Wing Conspiracy
To: Carry_Okie
Bill Gates always been a liberal. For some reason, many
FReepers seem to be in denial about that.

Probably the Rockefeller syndrome. In 3 generations they went from the king of capitalism (John D.) to the ultimate liberal RINO, Nelson Rockefeller.
To: Texaggie79
His friends are Volvo-driving lawyers. The truth is the other way around: most conservatives don't realize that Bill Gates is not their friend.

Billie Boy has always been a lib. His "charitable foundation" is the largest promoter of abortion in the world. Owning a business doesn't make one conservative, regardless of some Freepers insistence.
To: goodnesswins
'Billionaires for the DemonRATS' club, from what I can tell from the article on Page B1 their big issues are increasing foriegn aid for AIDS, a law against international womens discrimination.
Issues that are almost off the radar screen, this is a cover for a fund to embarass the White House with legal counsel on staff to 'press them.'

Socialism works for the ruling class by setting controls and limitations on the underclass.

You think these guys are scared? The administration expands the Department of Education, advocates increases in Foreign Aid, refuses to tighten immigration, panders to minorities and bars the nation's pilots from arming themselves. What exactly do you think these guys won't get if they just wait. Almost everything is going their way. IMHO, this is an effort to accelerate the trend in their direction. The only thing that threatens their objectives is someone like Ronald Reagan who knows the government is the problem and not the solution. Since their isn't anyone remotely like Ronald Reagan prominent on the national stage they've nothing to worry about.

Why is it that all of these mega wealthy people become leftists? My only explanation is that they want to control the world.
To: caltrop
So go campaign for Gore or Pat Buchanan next time.
To: codebreaker
I hope they spend their money financing some left-wing radio talk shows. That's always a real money maker.
To: Carry_Okie
"Socialism doesn't work for anybody in the long term." Socialism and its end result, a tyrannical dictatorship, works amazingly well for the handful of people who would be in control.
The key is to be in that handful. Sometimes it is hard to love liberty more than power.
To: codebreaker
Correction: This ought to be hillarious watching this rich fools flushing OUR money down the toilets...
To: Carry_Okie
Why Bill Gates is letting these creeps bend his brain I don't understand. It's a traditional way of buying respectability. "I'm not a cutthroat businessman, but Someone With A Conscience."

Maybe they can go on Phil Donahue to talk about it, that should be a hoot!
To: Seeking the truth
Are you talking about Gates?
I think this is the biggest crock of all. The notion that one's wife causes a person to fund gabillion-dollar pop-control and abortion all over the planet and endow Johns Hopkins with a "Melissa and Bill" center at which the likes of Phyllis Piotrow can hang out accomplishes two things, IMHO:
- It's an insidious nod to the matriarchal model with man as somehow lacking the authority to manage his own wealth (much less choose his wife more wisely).
- It's a hiding behind the skirts of the chicks -- much like George H. Bush and George W. Bush -- whose pro-abort wives are charged with sending the message that reasonable people can agree to disagree about a subject so critical as slavery or abortion.
I find it abhorrent and pathetic.
(But, in the meantime -- since we appear to be lacking ANYTHING resembling Real Men or patriarchy among the Anglophile elite of our hopelessly shortpants and sophomoric culture -- another HANK REARDEN BUMP!)

Bill Gates, Ted Turner and George Soros to Create Mega $$ 'Vast Left Wing Conspiracy' Think Tank Since when did the left wing learn how to think?
To: ChinaGotTheGoodsOnClinton
How so, that is another 10 million that won't be used for 'family planning' and other Gates liberal causes.
To: Raymond Hendrix
LOL! These old fools are contibuting 10 million a year to some internet guy who cashed out at the right time at the peak of the bubble with Disney.
This has great comedy written all over it...
To: Askel5
"since we appear to be lacking ANYTHING resembling Real Men or patriarchy among the Anglophile elite of our hopelessly shortpants and sophomoric culture" I still can't get out of my mind that it was two women that had to run through flying bullets and jump the deranged shooter in that Manhattan bar.
To: Askel5
Don't they have any "decaf" down there in The Big Easy! That was a joke!

Why Bill Gates is letting these creeps bend his brain I don't understand. Socialism doesn't work for anybody in the long term.If true, he has guilt like all of the super rich heirs who contribute massive sums to the enviral nazis to ruin our economy and country. You know the ones you have documented over the years.
To: codebreaker
You know, a good left wing conspiracy is going to take a heck of a lot of thongs.
To: Texaggie79
Gates' father is a liberal and so is his son.
To: codebreaker
I'll continue to support candidates who demonstrate a belief in smaller government, lower taxes and adherence to the constitution. Their the only ones I'll support. My vote has to be earned.

IF I owned any Microsoft stock, I think I'd certainly sell it now. Such a close association between TT toilet mouth and ruthless Bill has to be an invitation for judgement to fall sooner than later.

How Bill Gates is a liberal will always escape me. Here is a man who profited greatly from capitalism, was relentlessly attacked by a liberal administration, and he still is going to go whacko-liberal.
To: caltrop
I agree, but we are at war with an enemy who is invading our shores and firing upon us at will.
To be honest the Deptartment of Education can wait for now.
To: Lazamataz
He can't help it; liberalism is a mental disorder.

LOL...the Third Way conspiracy of the LEFT manufactured the 'perception' of the vast RIGHT WING conspiracy in the first place...
...So the left wing is going to spend millions on a think tank to defend it's interests against an nonexistant conspiracy of the right, which THEY created to begin with in order to misdirect public attention from the EXISTING conspiracy of the left-wing's Third Way movement...
Do I have this right?? We need some kind of limits on the influence of so-called 'political advocacy' groups.
...I need more coffee...

Why Bill Gates is letting these creeps bend his brain I don't understand. Socialism doesn't work for anybody in the long termWhat's even harder to understand is why he's in on this after Janet Reno's DOJ did everything they could to destroy his company. (BTW, I still believe the effect of that stupid action on the markets is what cost Gore the election, FWIW).
