Non, as much as we have disagreed in the past, I do honestly believe that we are a lot closer on this issue than you or I would readily want to admit.

On the other hand if we ever did see eye-to-eye then what would we do for fun? I will say that you defend your cause with dignity and honor and, usually, a sense of humor and I respect you for it.

Now...if you really want barbecue then forget that Carolina stuff and get on down to Kansas City, where barbecue has been raised to a high art. It has been said that barbecue in KC is like wine in France - go a mile down the road and it's completely different. And it's true, too.

Hello FRiends!

I appreciate all the FRiends I have found here, the good political discussion and debate that can be found here, the good talk and cheer almost always found in the Hobbit Hole, to the Robinsons for allowing it to go on! and the Moderators for trying to ensure that we play nice! Pints for everybody!

Thanks to EggsAckley for letting me know that it's OK to be a conservative and suffer from chronic depression. And also for introducing me to the online diary site she uses, which I now have over 60 entries on in only four weeks. She's going through a tough time right now, I won't say why, out of respect for her privacy.

And thanks to all who tolerate the fact that I mostly just make ironic jokes, arcane references, puns, and bash the prominent Democratic 'leadership'. I am so proud of some of my jokes, and I love reading the first reply of someone who 'gets it'. For example, there was an article about North Korean No-Dong missiles, and I joked that the guidance system runs on eunuchs. Nobody seemed to get the joke. Too subtle? Or not funny? Hint: it works on two levels.

Anyway, thanks to the resident humorists and super-posters who give me something to laugh at, or to read late at night.

And not to be sappy, but thank you, U.S. military. You are putting your lives on the line for the freedom I enjoy. No thanks will ever be enough. I just hope to be worthy of your sacrifice.
