USO Canteen FReeper Style...Salutes One of Our Own....June 25,2002
FRiends of the USO Canteen FReeper Style and Snow Bunny

Posted on 06/25/2002 2:31:57 AM PDT by Snow Bunny

Today at the USO Canteen FReeper Style is a very special day. We have all heard that once a Marine always a Marine and that is more true than naught.

There is no finer example of a Marine and a FReeper than LadyX . Her travels in life and into the lives of others has been numerous. Today join us in celebrating LadyX and her 50 years as a Marine.

Many of you have written to me of your appreciation for knowing LadyX and how today marks 50 years since she became a Marine. This is surprise to LadyX and OUR thank to you LadyX, for serving our country and for being a wonderful FReeper and friend.

Her service was during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps, instructing Women Marine recruits in classroom subjects, and later as a military wife.

With the Marine Corps at its greatest buildup then, for Korean combat, Women Marines freed men for their primary role - to protect our Republic and its ideals.

This is one of my favorite posts that LadyX made.
I saved it and cherish her words.

Tribute to Vietnam Veterans....Please click on picture

The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the force that the USO so serves.

On behalf of TF Rakkasan and myself let me thank you for your letter, your kind thoughts and most important you support. Your desire to send care packages to the soldiers of TF Rakkasan is wonderful in itself. We are lucky here because we have had the support of you great Americans every since we got here. As for the packages we will be deploying home soon after 7 months and I am afraid your packages would get lost in the system somewhere, but please know your letter and thoughts are more important to us than a package and for that we can't thank you enough!

Sincerely,
R. Herman

He's 29 has 2 daughters under age 3 and is missing his family.
SAMWolf told her he would pass the Marines’ name and address onto the Canteen.

Good Morning, you two. My undying gratitude to (the very attractive) LadyX for her service and to all you wonderful men and women in our armed services. The price you pay to keep us free is deeply appreciated. Richard, what are you doing up at this ungodly hour?

You caught me by surprise, and I shall try later to submit a proper tribute to my dearest friend, LadyX. I have very pressing matters this morning. In the interim, it is quite simple, she is a REAL lady so close to my heart.

Lady, I can't remember what a woman Marine was called in WWII but I was just a kid then and facinated already by women. When I entered the AF woman were still called WAF's. I worked with two weather officers, one was in VietNam. The AF space programs has had many women. Jen was one! You now know that I love all women in uniform and your service deserves this tribute. This occasion made me remember my older brother,Carl. He enlisted in the USAF right out of HS in 1952 and went to Korea after the "truce". I've been looking at his pictures too.

How 'bout an attempt at humor?

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.

Good morning from VA Beach!

Looking at about the same weather report as Chicago, highs in the mid 90s with heat indicies in the 100s. Which really sucks cause I can't let my kids play outside in this heat.

Got one of those weird 'it's still sunny out but look, it's raining' showers yesterday evening. Only lasted about 15 minutes.

Just patiently (HA!) counting down the days till my hubby will be home. Of course with our luck, he'll be right back out to sea the next week but hey, at least he'll be home for 4th of July.

Have a great day everyone!
