Good for him - and thanks to him for his service to our country.

Then, this firefighter says to the President, "Mr. President, I'd love to put my arm around you, but I smell real bad." This made the President laugh according to the firefighter, and the President said, "Aw, c'mon over here, I don't care, I'm a Texan!" Well, this firefighter tells the interviewer, "that's when I knew this was a real man!"

FOFL .. I LOVE IT!!!

Thanks

Can't you just see W shaking in his cowboy boots over that threat? I mean he must really be flummoxed and frightened!

I almost pity the dems and their cohorts under guise of RINOism when W makes his move to break the judicial nominees logjam. I can hear them whining that no president ought to be able to get his way on everything (as if he does).

Thanks, both of you, for the info.

For now anyway - only got thrown offline twice so far -- I have two PC's, both using the same phone line via dial-up modems. The Toshiba (dining room, where I am now) is the one that suffers this malady the most. I'm not sure if it's the modem on the Toshiba or what, because even though I do get bumped offline occasionally on the other PC, it's never like this. So I finished reading John Adams while offline tonight. I've been prolonging finishing it, savoring it like a fine port wine. But it's done now. On to Churchill!

I hear that John Adams book is pretty good.

Does the Toshiba mess up as bad if plugged into the phone jack usually used by the other PC? If not, then house wiring is another variable to consider.

Sorry to be so late with the Psalm - some things going on. Prayers appreciated. More later. Thanks, mtngrl@vrwc - for your support and prayers.

Psalm 21

Joy in the Salvation of the LORD

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD;
        And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
        2You have given him his heart's desire,
        And have not withheld the request of his lips.Selah

        3For You meet him with the blessings of goodness;
        You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.
        4He asked life from You, and You gave it to him--
        Length of days forever and ever.
        5His glory is great in Your salvation;
        Honor and majesty You have placed upon him.
        6For You have made him most blessed forever;
        You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence.
        7For the king trusts in the LORD,
        And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.

        8Your hand will find all Your enemies;
        Your right hand will find those who hate You.
        9You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger;
        The LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath,
        And the fire shall devour them.
        10Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth,
        And their descendants from among the sons of men.
        11For they intended evil against You;
        They devised a plot which they are not able to perform.
        12Therefore You will make them turn their back;
        You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces.

        13Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength!
        We will sing and praise Your power.

I am completely serious about a Habitat House built by Freepers. Perhaps we can coordinate a joint effort in major cities around the US. Or, everyone can come to West Michigan!

As for the feral kittens... Feral means completely wild and untouched by humans. They have never been in contact with people. My friend's mom had a stray cat give birth to four kittens under her deck. The mama was friendly, but the kittens were not. So, I took my live trap over there (I've done this many times before) and trapped all four. They were not happy! The kitties are around 8 weeks old.

Trying to domesticate a feral kitten is pretty easy. You just need a lot of patience and love. And I am pleased to say that two have been completely 'broken' and are now very loving a playful. The lone female (I named her Laura!) is still a bit shy, but last night she walked up to me and sat on my lap. The fourth kitten is still a bit skeptical, but he's coming around. Now the hard part- finding good homes.

Here are some pics!

This is sweet Laura...

This is Inky... he's the most spirited one.

This is Mokie (short for Smokie). He's the most loving.

And this is the cautious one... OB (short for Ottawa beach which is where they were born)

I have done this. A group of us at work, all women, worked on a Habitat home about 4 years ago in the inner-city of Milwaukee. It was a very gratifying and fun experience.

What did you do? We installed vinyl siding. It was fun, and the woman who would own the house worked alongside us. She could not beleive this was going to be her own house.

Yep. We also did the Working Women program. What did I do? Ha! I helped put up the front porch... Boy was it HOT! It was 91 and humid yesterday. My shoulders are little pink.

Great pictures. Looks like you weather rivals ours here in the midwest. I would not have wanted to be working on a construction project in those temps!

My one brother was a career Marine that retired during Clinton's term...he has this wall in his family room of things he rec'd during his service .. everything except his discharge paper because it has Clinton's name on it .. he refuses to hang it on the wall

There must be many stories those guys could tell. I recall the salutes Clinton got that showed no respect even to the ignorant observer such as me. Those that Bush gets are blatantly more respectful, even affectionate, and that must mean a great deal.
