Chinese jets buzz US spy plane
Straits Times ^

Posted on 06/27/2002 9:32:37 PM PDT by DeaconBenjamin

WASHINGTON - Two Chinese jet fighters came within 45 m of an American reconnaissance aircraft near China in the first such incident since a collision last year between another US spy plane and a Chinese jet.

The close encounter occurred in international airspace near the Chinese coast north of Taiwan on Monday, officials said yesterday.

Two Chinese F-7 interceptors flew parallel to a US Navy P-3 surveillance aircraft and then, for a few minutes flew very close to the propeller-driven plane, The Washington Times reported.

On April 1 last year, a Chinese F-8 interceptor collided with a US spy plane and crashed into the South China Sea, killing the pilot.

The US aircraft crash- landed on Hainan Island.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Can we do anything to protect our servicemembers?

So, our good friends, the Chinese are acting aggressively again huh? No surprise at all. Just wait until we've made them even wealthier.....one day it will be for real.

Time to install the 20mm cannons off the tails of mothballed B-52s into those P-3s. That and a bumper sticker that says....

Between this and the Chinese buying up investments and raw materials all over Asia, it looks like Jeff Head either is a fortune teller or has done some really good intel in his book, Dragon's Fury.

The book is about the beginning of WWIII. So far it's great. The book "Dragon's Fury" is available from Amazon.com.

Jeff, I just started chapter six. Very interesting and some strange coincidences in the news today.

It's called Brinksmanship, it comes with the territory,

During the cold war, our interceptors got close enough to Russian planes to flip the Russians the bird.

I guess the ChiComs need another aircraft to take apart, and figure Bush will give them another one if they act tough. Worked last time...

I haven't seen topgun, my boss who flew F-106's during the 60's however claims to have gotten close enough to Russian planes to strip the paint off their wings with his exhaust.
