"They are basically just report-takers. They are secretaries with guns." That's just swell!

The first 3 Dirty Harry films are great. I have seen them many times where I usually can't bear to see movies a second time. Clint has a new action film coming out.

"I like the "secretaries with guns" remark."
It's worse than you might believe. I was working a summer job at Ryder truck rental in SF during the Democratic Convention there many years ago. We rented trucks to SFPD for the convention. Everyone was complaining about the condition of the trucks when we got them back. Most of them were littterd with empty beer cans and marijuana seeds.

What does one expect from a city that elects a slimy, crooked racist like Willie Brown as its King/Mayor?

"You don't put yourself in harm's way because you don't like the way the police handled it. What if this guy did have a gun -- and you only have net," Dudley said. "We certainly don't encourage the public to make their own arrest. That's our job." Damn right it's your job you dumb###, so why did you refuse to do it and force him to take matters into his own hands. What a moron.

[said.....]"his officers are constantly busy responding to calls that often involve emergencies and violent crime. Setting up a stakeout for a suspect in a property crime case is not something the SFPD usually can do." This is BS, the police are setting up stings on property theft all the time.
Doesn't this guy watch COPS?

Can't stand Eastwood's politics (One longtime lover and co-star says Clint forced her to abort their child) but he's always made excellent movies and has basically lived off the "strong silent type" image for 40 years.
It's rare that I'll watch a movie more than once but I've seen all the Dirty Harry movies over and over again. A bunch of us in college watched "Magnum Force" one night and then ribbed each other for weeks saying "a man's got to know his limitations."
And the storyline generally is that governments are inept, corrupt and emersed in political correctness (even before the term was used) and that fighting crime is all about removing criminals, not worrying about what the ACLU might say. Hard not to like a message such as that.

This story would be funny if it weren't true...shame on the SFPD!
