Wrong it is a war with Islam. He does not get it, we are in deep trouble.

Those with concerns point out that the founder of the American Muslim Council, Abdurahman Alamoudi, was a well-established supporter of known terrorist organizations. Two years ago, he was captured on tape espousing his views.

This is worrisome stuff. Since when to we pay Federal employees to consciously endanger the lives of U.S. citizens? I suppose the FBI thinks its job is to protect the sensitivities of American Muslims, first and foremost. This is no different from the U.S. Forest Service wanting to protect fires, first and foremost. I'm still seething over the Colorado fire, which was started by a Federal employee, and allowed to grow stronger when the Forest Service fire boss turned down the free bulldozers offered up by a mining company, on the grounds that they were to big and would harm plant life. The day is getting closer when we will be forced to take the law into our own hands.

My alternate reality: Mueller walks up and stands behind the podium, faces the American flag in the hall (was there one?), and says "and now ladies and gentlemen, please rise me and join in reciting the Pledge of Allegience, affirming that we hold our loyalty to the United States of America above every other consideration."

Wouldn't that have been a great way to kick off his speech?

From Mueller's speech to the ADL:

Your support of hate crime and terrorist investigations, which are now front and center in the work of the FBI, is essential to us.  And the training and education you provide for the FBI and for law enforcement have never been more relevant.  That includes the conference on extremist and terrorist threats you are sponsoring later this month at the FBI Academy.  And it especially includes the classes at the Holocaust Museum that Abe and Jess helped arrange for our New Agents and for National Academy students. . .

THE FBI'S NEXT DISGRACE

No FBI director has ever broken bread with apologists for the murderers of Americans. J. Edgar Hoover, for all his faults, never addressed the German-American Bund or the American Communist Party.

But Robert Mueller III, unembarrassed by his bureau's string of intelligence failures, intends to deliver a lunch talk today to the American Muslim Council - a group with well-established links to supporters of anti-American terrorism.

Abdurahman Alamoudi, the AMC's executive director, has been strident in his support for the Hamas and Hezbollah terror gangs - both of which are on the U.S. government's list of terrorist groups.

Hezbollah, remember, is the ruthless Iranian-backed Islamic fundamentalist group responsible for the bombings that killed hundreds of Americans in Beirut in 1982, and which continues to bombard Israeli cities from its bases in Lebanon.

Alamoudi has also been a vehement defender of Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman, the blind mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Another board member, Jamal Barzinji, has been investigated by federal authorities for links to al Qaeda.

The AMC was also a major fund-raiser for the Holy Land Foundation, a conduit for cash for Middle East Islamist terrorists that was recently shut down by the Bush administration.

If all this weren't bad enough, the fact that the AMC is the kind of organization that once had a cop-killer - Abudulla Al-Amin, formerly known as H. Rap Brown - on its executive board should have given Mueller pause before he accepted an invitation.

By addressing the AMC's conference, Mueller discredits the FBI.

For shame.

FBI Director's Speech to American Muslim Council
"In addition, because we believe education is one of the best ways to prevent intolerance and discrimination, the FBI has developed a cultural diversity training program and a community outreach program. Since 1991, the FBI has conducted 728 training sessions on issues like diversity, sexual harassment, intercultural communication and equal employment opportunity. We instruct every new agent in cultural diversity, and include diversity training in the FBI management seminars. Ideally, these types of workshops should occur in every community. In fact, in Norfolk, the local Imams are currently working with our office to develop a program to help educate local law enforcement -- not just the FBI but the entire law enforcement community -- about the Muslim community. Through this effort, better relationships among the various communities can be cultivated and fostered. We must breakdown the fears and misunderstandings which develop from the unknown and that often form destructive stereotypes. No one, including the FBI, is served well by these portrayals, and law enforcement must never fall victim to them."

Criminalizing Dissent
"The FBI’s Project Megiddo, which warns against millennial terrorism, paints constitutionalists, devout Christians, hate groups, and militias with the same broad strokes.

Project Megiddo, the FBI’s "strategic assessment" of potential millennium-related domestic terrorism, represents a significant victory in the radical left’s "long march through the institutions" of U.S. law enforcement. The report, which was unveiled on November 2nd at a conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police at Charlotte, North Carolina, has been distributed to law enforcement agencies nationwide. While no author is mentioned in the publicly available version of Project Megiddo, its contents are largely indistinguishable from the materials generated by leftist "watchdog" organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which regularly furnish law enforcement agencies with lurid reports intended to catechize law enforcement agencies about the supposed threat posed by the "radical right."

...While the Megiddo report is clearly a product of the FBI’s counter-terrorism center, there are strong indications that the State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training SLATT) program was involved as well. As THE NEW AMERICAN recently reported, SLATT is funded, through the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), by a grant from the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The SLATT program is an outgrowth of the 1996 post-OKC bombing anti-terrorism act; its purpose is to provide "anti-terrorism preparedness training" to state and local police agencies, including "pre-incident awareness" training to help identify potential terrorist threats.

Documents obtained by THE NEW AMERICAN under a Freedom of Information Act request suggest that SLATT may have played a substantial role in composing Megiddo. IIR’s 1998 proposal for the "continuation and expansion" of the SLATT program states that the program’s main purposes include providing "state and local law enforcement … [with] a general awareness and working knowledge of domestic terrorist and ‘political’ extremist movements (including ideologies, illegal activities, tactics, and strategies), and provid[ing] an initial assessment of the threat potential posed by extremists...." The document refers to "individuals adhering to ‘patriot’ extremist or other domestic terrorist philosophies," indicating that, by SLATT’s definitions, those who espouse "extremist" views are ideational co-conspirators with those who commit crimes against persons or property.

Among SLATT’s purposes, according to the IIR’s grant proposal, are "early identification of extremist-generated illegal activities and tactics; recognition of extremist movements operating within a jurisdiction and lawful monitoring of such movements." It recommends the "establishment of an effective working relationship with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the designated lead agency," and points out that "the SLATT Program and the many activities and tasks set forth herein are based on the continued participation of the FBI." In light of the FBI/SLATT relationship, it is significant that the "Background" section of the grant proposal reads very much like an early draft of Megiddo. That section asserts that "right-wing political and racist extremist groups have re-emerged [in recent years], mostly with new names, in somewhat different forms, and with variations in organization and differing tactics" than those used by previous groups in the 1980s. "Extremists" can be recognized, according to the SLATT grant proposal, as those who "identify with one or more of the following philosophies: anti-tax, anti-federal government, anti-state government, anti-authority, anti-world alliances, pro-racial purity, pro-white supremacy, anti-Semitic, and a fear of loss of Constitutional rights … with an equal fear of a one world order...."

Isn't it a war against RADICAL ISLAM? Or was there a subtext to Robert Mueller's address to the Al Qaeda groupies that I missed? In other words if Islam is not our enemy, who is? Mueller's remarks were unclear about just how the U.S government intends to fight terrorism if it doesn't have the foggiest idea of who its fighting. And what really takes the cake is the Bush Administration's granting legitimacy to a group Daniel Pipes and Steven Emerson have labeled a front group for Islamist terrorists like Hezbollah and Hamas. Way to go Mueller boy!!!

"Instead of denouncing these barbaric calls to violence by American Muslims, the respectable "moderates" on the Charlie Rose panel – Clinton ally Abdurahman Alamoudi among them – all denounced the documentary for provoking anti-Muslim feeling. Alamoudi insisted that Hamas is not a terrorist group. Most amazingly, he and his fellow "moderates" said that Americans should not feel threatened by extremist leaders addressing large Muslim audiences in this country calling for "Jihad of the sword" and chanting "Kill the Jews, kill the Christians."

From article:

"But the FBI director's appearance was not without controversy relating both to the relationships of some individuals to AMC and to the opposition groups who say that Mueller should have stayed away.

Those with concerns point out that the founder of the American Muslim Council, Abdurahman Alamoudi, was a well-established supporter of known terrorist organizations."

Feds Searched Offices Of Seven McKinney Donors
"Among these donors was Abdurahman Alamoudi, an avowed supporter of the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah."

Grover Norquist's Strange Alliance With Radical Islam
"On the afternoon of September 26, George W. Bush gathered 15 prominent Muslim- and Arab-Americans at the White House. With cameras rolling, the president proclaimed that "the teachings of Islam are teachings of peace and good." It was a critically important moment, a statement to the world that America's Muslim leaders unambiguously reject the terror committed in Islam's name.

Unfortunately, many of the leaders present hadn't unambiguously rejected it. To the president's left sat Dr. Yahya Basha, president of the American Muslim Council, an organization whose leaders have repeatedly called Hamas "freedom fighters." Also in attendance was Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, who on the afternoon of September 11 told a Los Angeles public radio audience that "we should put the State of Israel on the suspect list." And sitting right next to President Bush was Muzammil Siddiqi, president of the Islamic Society of North America, who last fall told a Washington crowd chanting pro-Hezbollah slogans, "America has to learn if you remain on the side of injustice, the wrath of God will come."

"At a Washington rally last year, Abdurahman Alamoudi, Saffuri's boss at the AMC, declared, "I have been labeled by the media in New York to be a supporter of Hamas. Anybody support Hamas here?...Hear that, Bill Clinton? We are all supporters of Hamas. I wished they added that I am also a supporter of Hezbollah." In press releases and forums, the AMC has defended the terrorist-harboring Sudanese government against charges that it massively violates human rights and condones slavery. As late as June of this year, the AMC put out a press release entitled "SLAVERY IN SUDAN IS A SHAM.."

"No FBI director has ever broken bread with apologists for the murderers of Americans. J. Edgar Hoover, for all his faults, never addressed the German-American Bund or the American Communist Party. But Robert Mueller III, unembarrassed by his bureau's string of intelligence failures, intends to deliver a lunch talk today to the American Muslim Council - a group with well-established links to supporters of anti-American terrorism."

Domestic Front in the War on Terror - Insight Magazine
"NCPPF President Sami Al-Arian, a professor at the University of South Florida, sent out an e-mail eight days before the Sept. 11 attacks criticizing President Bush for not dropping the use of secret evidence in terrorist cases. Small wonder: Al-Arian has been a major supporter of terrorist causes. The Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilley exposed some of Al-Arian's activity, and NBC's Dateline aired a video of the NCPPF leader stating, "Let us damn America. Let us damn Israel. Let us damn their allies until death."

Insight obtained a copy of a 1995 letter Al-Arian wrote to raise funds for suicide bombers of the Hamas terrorist group. An FBI translation, in Arabic, discusses a recent suicide bombing: "The movement's financial situation is very difficult, and it cannot fulfill its responsibilities toward the martyrs and prisoners. … The link with the brothers in Hamas is very good and making steady progress. … I call upon you to try to extend true support to the jihad effort in Palestine so that operations such as these can continue."

The Tale of an American Terrorist Network
"For twenty years I have served without compensation as a lawyer for federal whistleblowers within the US intelligence community. In the last year, I have received highly classified information from several of my confidential clients concerning a Saudi covert operation. The Saudi relationship is so sensitive that, for more than a decade, federal prosecutors and counter-terrorist agents have been ordered to shut down their investigations for reasons of foreign policy.

...Six months later, a much chagrined Prince Abdullah belatedly announced that the Saudis would release the names of the terrorists which their charities had “unwittingly” funded, but only in Somalia and Asia. The main Saudi charities in Herndon, Virginia, and the Al-Arian network in Florida are still untouched.

My clients are betting that the American influence peddlers hired by the Saudis will succeed once again in derailing a federal investigation. They came to me for help in exposing the cover-up. That is why I am filing this lawsuit.

In the months to come, the American public may finally begin to learn why the Saudi-Sami Al-Arian terror networks went untouched for so long. It wasn’t an intelligence failure, it was a foreign policy failure. The orders were not to embarrass the Saudi government. Year after year, the cover-up orders came from the State Department and the White House."

Clinton White House axed terror-fund probe
"The suit's main target is Sami Al-Arian, a former University of South Florida professor who created or was associated with several Florida charities or think tanks, including the International Committee for Palestine, Islamic Concern Project and the now-defunct World and Islam Studies Enterprise."
