The next thing we should do is tell them to leave.

Yes, but if the govt tells them to leave, then their pretense for the police state leaves with them. "Fighting terrorism" is merely the latest excuse for increased surveillance and control of the American people.

What part of "NO","Dr No" don't you understand? I would like to answer my own question. I do not understand opposing the pursuit of terrorists on many fronts. Unless it is to get Congress to approve marque and whatever the pirate thing is. Then I understand the point he makess. Ron fires for effect. I have a hunch that Bush agrees with most of this as do I. Ron was my senior fraternity roommate during my soph year. Something rubbed off.

It occurred to me on another thread that George Bush may well be Baal, a false idol worshipped by many because he espouses security and compassion (not freedom and self-reliance).

I'm curious...what religion is that? And is there a god of freedom and self-reliance?

We are doomed to world rule/police state which ever makes you more comfortable, as long as we leave God out of the equation.

How arrogant we are to think that we can stop something that most of us are afraid to admit exists.

Politicians are over rated car salespersons. They won't admit to any agenda let alone commit to solving the related problems, such as losing our basic human Rights.

Too many people want to keep it simple and stick to one topic, while the other hundred topics consume any life they believe they have.

The only way out of this is to :

1. Put God back above man.

2. Hold our politicians to Gods' Laws, no exceptions whether it's foreign or domestic affairs.

3. Begin dismanteling man's corrupt laws.

4. Eliminate America's State churches State churches

5. End government control of our educations.

6. Get America out of the UN and the UN out of America.

"This has been happening ever since George Bush the elder, Ronald Reagan's biggest mistake."

Reagan was reputed to have been informed by David Rockefeller that he'd not see the inside of the WH if he didn't go along with GHWB as his VP.

Ron Paul is clearly an optimist, believing that the trend can be reveresed.

He has to be, otherwise he would have to face the fact that he is wasting his time as a congressman. I, being the pessimist (or realist, depending on how you look at it) I am, think there isn't anything that'll stop what is coming.

Hell, I could ride my bike without a helmet, carrying a BB gun, throwing firecrackers and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as a kid and I would have been considered normal.

lol! what happened to "normal?" ;)

We are certainly more statist and closer to a police state than when I grew up. Hell, I could ride my bike without a helmet, carrying a BB gun, throwing firecrackers and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as a kid and I would have been considered normal.

That certainly is true. There is a town here in NC (filled by yankees but don't get me started) that have a town law on bicycle helmets that is so strict a couple of years ago the police were handing out tickets to parents even if their children were riding without a helmet in their own yard. And fireworks? Until a couple of years ago fireworks were completely banned in this state. But growing up about a mile from the border, as long as you bought a gross of bottlerockets (about 5 bucks) for the sheriff or county deputy that might catch you for his children, they just didn't care. We had roman candle fights growing up and carried .22s on the back of our motorcycles half the summer when we went hunting in the woods. But today? You try any of that today and you'd be lucky to ever see your child again

This nation is moving closer and closer to the point where safety is more important than freedom. I just finished having my engine rebuilt in my car. Right before the project started, I had to take it to the dealership for an roadside breakdown. The service manager all but chewed me out for wanting to change the 'factory' settings and said it wouldn't pass the emission testing if I were to proceed. Well I did it and it still passes. Just irked me that I apparently don't know better about what I can or can not do with my property than the authorities

You oldthinkers should just learn to love Big Brother; he loves you! ;^)

Whatever he does, you can be sure it's for your own good...and for the children.

Be grateful...or else.

"I'm curious...what religion is that? And is there a god of freedom and self-reliance?"

Baal was the god of Israel's early enemies, it was a materialistic god, a gold covered idol. As I was using the term, I meant to infer that Bush is an unsubstantial god to follow, since he often offers unsubstantial political tripe (compassionate conservatism) as a vote getter rather than taking the high road.

As far as there being a God of freedom and self reliance, I think most major religions require their followers to exercise their independence by doing the right thing.

Already there Ron and you know it. You just can't say it on the floor of the House. We have more people in prison than any nation in the history of the world, and some of our states rank fourth or fifth in the world. When you add the probationers and parolees and the people on pretrial intervention, you get about 3 or 4 people out of ten that in their wage earning years are at some time caught up in the criminal courts. People have no idea how many things are illegal these days, but most commit a host of misdemeanors every year and at least a few felonies and don't even know it. It's all in who gets caught, or who someone doesn't like.
