This thread could easily have been called "A Day in the Life of Governor Bush"!

Summer, great pictures and thanks for posting them here so we could enjoy them!

I only wish I knew how to post photos so I could share my project"Rita's Kids" with you...someday I'll figure it out unless somebody wants to help?????

Thanks for your post here, TaitieBug! Your project sounds terrific! Post a photo like this:

img src=" "

Also, put a "<" symbol (without the quote) before the img and a ">" (without the quote) after the last quote above. Inside the quotes, put the URL of the photo, and be sure there is no extra space between the URL and the quote marks.

I'll post another photo and show you.

But for the fact that his Dad and his Bro have already been able to call the White House home, Jeb would be a natural contender for the Presidency at some point. It'll never happen due to concerns about the creation of a family oligarchy, and that's too bad, because he might just be the best of the lot (and I mean that as high praise).

Assuming he wins re-election (and I'm confident that neither he nor his Florida supporters assume any such thing, but are working as if he were trailing in the polls), what does he do in 2006? Jeb will be 53, a bit young to bow out of politics. Well, Bill Nelson's Senate seat is up. Incumbent Senators are most vulnerable after their first term (generally speaking, the longer they stay, the tougher they are to beat), and Nelson's 2000 win over Bill McCollum was only 51-46. Hey, I'm allowed to look ahead. Just make sure you folks in Florida don't!

It'll never happen

That will be news to the many people here already planning to get him elected in 2008. Seriously. You are truly in the minority on that one!

And, that is what more than a few here think. :)

I guess he will run for Nelson's senate seat - and, win it.

You're welcome! If you understood that, you are a far better student than I was in learning how to post photos! I had to go over and over it with poor AmishDude by freepmail! Thanks, AmishDude. :)

He will be term-limited out of office in 2006, so he does need to find other work. Sen. Graham is up in 2004-- maybe Jeb will run against him and then be able to run against Nelson in 2006 as a back-up plan. In 2004, Graham would have been a U. S. Senator for 18 years and in statewide politics for 26 years-- maybe he'll retire (one can dream...).

IMO, no, that will not happen - Gov Bush really enjoys being a governor. He won't leave his gov post before his next term is up, in 2006.

And, after 2 terms as gov, he should be able to defeat Nelson.

FL Sen. Bob Graham made it clear that he very much wanted the VP slot on the Gore ticket in 2000. Another fatal mistake by Gore, as this too might have tipped FL to the Gore column. (Thank gosh Gore did not become president! How many bad mistakes could we have taken with him making such blunders while in office???)

southernnorthcarolina [referring to the possibility of a President Jeb]: "It'll never happen."

summer: "That will be news to the many people here already planning to get him elected in 2008. Seriously. You are truly in the minority on that one!"

I've been wrong before, of course, and I wouldn't mind being wrong here. But the "give someone else a chance" mindset, illogical though it is, is so ingrained in so many people that I hold out little hope for a Jeb Presidency.

A re-election win by Dubya in 2004 would mark the 3rd win by a Bush in 5 Presidential elections. But more significantly, think of this factoid: nomination of Jeb to the 2008 ticket would mark the 7th time out of 8 Presidential elections that a Bush appeared on the ticket. To quote George H. W. Bush: "Not gonna happen."

Of course, we are reminded by today's Wimbledon action that siblings can both get to the top. Even if ... hmmm, they have to oppose each other. Have there been any Jeb sightings in New Hampshire and Iowa? :-)

Thanks for the ping. Enjoyed these pictures. Does George P Bush have any plans this summer going on the campaign trail with his dad? I haven't noticed him around.
