A Bush Hater's Poll
Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:27:06 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

This is an unofficial quick and dirty presidential poll. Apparently, there is a good sized contingent on Free Republic that believes that President Bush is:

  1. Not conservative enough
  2. Not pro-life
  3. Is a gun-grabber
  4. Is a federal power-grabber
  5. Will appoint liberal judges
  6. Is a globalist
  7. Is in it just for oil
  8. Is too soft on immigration
  9. Is too soft (or too hard) on Israel
  10. Is a crook
  11. All of the above
  12. None of the above
  13. Other (you name it)

Please list the numbers that best match the reasons you don't like Bush (or state other reasons if not on the list) and state whether you believe that President Bush should be defeated even if it means installing a Democrat in the Whitehouse.

Conversely, if you believe President Bush should be re-elected, please state why.

Please state who you would like to see win the Presidency in 2004 and whether or not you believe he/she has a chance of winning.

Thanks,
Jim

"Alan Keyes is another person whom I could support if he ran for president."

Ditto on that one.

"Since this thread deals with our support of who is in the Whitehouse, I still am interested if you can spit out a YES or NO answer to Howlins question. If you say this is not the thread, well, answer her question to you on the thread where it "belongs" (that she wrote to you a few hours ago) as I am quite interested in what a "true conservative" thinks. Thanks!"

I am not going to answer that inappropriate question on this thread or any thread. If I do not wish to comment on an issue, I shouldn't have to.

Stop harrassing me.

Fair enough. Post what you feel is a serious solution proposal and we can discuss it. Make sure you flag the poster that put it forward.

I posted some thoughts on another thread here,

I thought B. A. Conservative's thread MY VOTE IS FOR SALE was constructive and likewise directed at the party.

Ned, the FR "Here's the Problem" threads mirror Ross Perot's fraud to every annoying, cynical and insincere ploy.

If I started a thread "County Nazis Steal My Land and Life" .... and I laid out a sad tale of my County assessor asking me to move my LARGE fishing shack 25 feet back from the shorelinr so no domicile issues and their accompanying tax assssments would occur. I caused a ruckus, the police and sherrifs showed up, I'm surprised the British military didn't try to house themselves in my quarters! It was a hair-trigger riot waiting to happen ... well, if I could get my dog to wake up. I made all this up of course but ....

You know what solution based ned and Texasforever would advise "Move the shack Back as asked dumbshit" LOL.

So, I'm not under the iron fist of Pol Pot? Can you prove that with a link? LOL Weird Science!!!

Thanks I am going to break your comments down a bit so we can actually focus. Give me some time to do that.

8. Is too soft on immigration So far he is the first President in my life to propose and enact restrictions, and yet nobody gives him credit. The all or nothing crowd wants him "necklaced" for "supposedly" thinking of amnesty (A NYT's divide and Conquer plot)

Please post links to his proposed and enacted restrictions.

You can always count on me for an answer!! Let's see if we can simplify all of this:

Solution = Problem = Reality

I hope that helps!! LOL

This sign should have been unnecessary, and would be if the INS was doing their job.

Could you elaborate. Who's not doing their job? The troops on the ground or the generals at HQ?

I want there to be a socialist government, the sooner the better, because then....

and only then....
will the sheeple finally see the light, and rise together as one and say,"Pat Buchanan was right! We want a constitutional government now!" And then all will be right with America! (/nutcase alert)

I have no complaints.

Except for the Republican cheerleaders who promised us they would hold Bush's "feet to the fire" if he was elected. Instead we have people making excuses for the limp wristed approach to promoting small government. Yeah thats winning over some Reagan democrats and possibly the next election. But now it is irritating.

Do you remember the debate where Bush was calling Gore out, telling the camera that his only solutions were big government? He made the case that night, and won my vote. He had Gore in an awkward spot. That to me was what I was hoping for out of Bush.

Instead he wants to ride the middle and be everyones friend. Appease the left this week on this issue and then appease the right next week.

Where is the argument for small government? Maybe I am missing it from the RP?

I find it very interesting that some of the most morbid Bush haters on this forum are not responding to this thread.

1. well, he's conservative enough for me, I'm one of the moderates - flame away!

2. I'd say he's a pro-lifer, but I don't give a damn one way or the other. not a issue in my book.

3. let's wait and see, if he takes away my gun, no Bushes will ever get another cent from me.

4. depends on the situation, I give him a pass on the new homeland security plan for now.

5. from what I've seen so far, no way in hell. Give him a Pubbie senate, you'll get your judges.

6. in a mild sense, but still putting US interest first. definitely not a UN appeaser as some have suggested.

7. hogwash.

8. definitely his weak spot. I'd like to see dramatic improvement in this area.

9. I think he's taking the right stand, but again, not a issue in my book.

10. unless you are resident DU.

11. thumbs down for #8 only.

12. again, #8.

13. need more time to think.

Bush has my vote in 2004 election for now, I'd love to be able to vote for him again in 04.

I place Bush at #11.

Like his father, he's destined to be a one termer. The last time the conservatives got pissed off was when both the congress and presidency was in the hands of the socialists. We were so pissed off in fact, that we tossed the SOB's out the door in '94.

We need to get that fire back; compassionate conservativism just doesn't ignite that fire.

PS: We'll likely lose the House in November ("It's the economy, stupid") and regaining the Senate is hopeless.

Overall I'm satisfied. He certainly has a lot better character than the previous occupant, and he's certainly funding the military much more adequately. I wasn't very happy with the steel tariffs or the signing of CFR (even though it may result in the Courts getting rid of this issue for good...), though (I guess that gets categorized as a 13).

As of now, I'd definitely vote to re-elect him.

What are you talking about..."Bush didn't cut capital gains enough"?

He can't cut anything. All he can do is sign a bill that's put on his desk after the Republicans draft it and the Democrats try to destroy it.

If the Democrats hold together...which they do...they can stop everything.

It would be great if all the complainers worked at electing a working majority of conservatives instead of filling the air with their nonsense about Bush's failings.

Stalking you from thread to thread with what? I was repeating a question which was already asked of you on this thread, and not by me. Stop trying to dodge it with hysterics, it makes you look bad!

Excellent post, MJY! I pretty much agree with everything you've stated. I would like to see him tougher on immigration, but that would not be the one thing to make me not vote for him.
