THIS is a tragedy? Sounds like one more idiot has been taken off the streets to society's benefit. Thank God for the 2nd Amendment (and people who believe in it.)

Nice little trick the army developed. Unidirectional mine that deploys multiple high-speed ball bearings toward the enemy with intent to cause grevious and lasting harm. The casing has the words Front Toward Enemy displayed prominently. Makes quite a mess I'm afraid.

A fellow with a gun went in at 8:45 a.m. to rob the place. fel.low: Merriam-Webster definition:
1 : COMRADE, ASSOCIATE
2 a : an equal in rank, power, or character : PEER b : one of a pair : MATE
3 : a member of a group having common characteristics; specifically : a member of an incorporated literary or scientific society
4 :obsolete a: a person of one of the lower social classes b : a worthless man or boy
5 : an incorporated member of a college or collegiate foundation especially in a British university
6 : a person appointed to a position granting a stipend and allowing for advanced study or research
The author of the article is most likely unaware of definition #4, but that would have been a much better description of the perp than "fellow".

Cool.

It's a tragedy because the perp killed the store owner, who was a respectable, well-liked businessman who would let regulars slide if they were a little short on funds.

Maybe if Texas outlawed guns in convenience stores, this sort of thing would not happen. Oh, wait
.I just remembered that it currently is illegal to carry a firearm (other than a handgun with a CHL) in a store that sells alcohol.

Not to be confused with the original Claymore:

tragedy : n Anything really, really bad that happens to people. ... preferable to more judgmental terms such as crime, massacre, outrage, etc.

My opinion is we need more Coffeeville/Northfield responses to armed robbery.

Thank you kind sir, I was unable to located the desired picture of the M18A1 Claymore for my post.
One must admit though, that the original Claymore might have a detrimental effect on a criminal's morale considering the great and lasting harm it can cause. Especially if it is manufactured by a well known maker of fine blades, Wilkinson, Cold Steel, Sog, Emerson, Randall, Ginsu, ummm, wait there...

It's common knowledge among criminals that the major convenience store chains, such as Circle K and 7-11, all have policies forbidding employees from keeping guns in the store for their own defense. The company lawyers feel that losing a minimum-wage night clerk every few weeks is less costly than a lawsuit filed on behalf of an injured perpetrator.

Glad to be of service.
great and lasting harm
A criminal might have some difficulty saying "This is a stickup! Gimme all your money!" when his head is no longer attached to his shoulders.
To: ArrogantBustard
Quite. Of course he quite possibly would have the "This is a stick-up" part correct. Just depends on if you run him through or just start lopping parts off...

... preferable to more judgmental terms such as crime, massacre, outrage, etc.Exactly.

I saw a neat "Speedway" store with bullet proof glass and a dip in the counter to pass money. No way to harm an employee unless the window is slid open....... it usually is....duh!... oh well... you can tell that some thought went into the building of the store and to protect its employees.
