In December 2001, a letter from Washington arrived at the 15 defense ministries of the European Union. The writer was Paul Wolfowitz, the forthright and hawkish US deputy secretary of defense; the subject was a European satellite system called Galileo; and the tone was far from happy.

Call me a troglodyte, but if it threatens US security, I say blow it out of the sky.

Time to bring the ASM-135A back into service.

AKA the F-15C/ASAT.

Galileo's orbital parameters might not lend it to getting whacked by the ASM-135.

The Army has an ASAT laser at White Sands, though. Crank up the power, point, and SHOOT!

"Gosh, Monsieur Bildt, we have NO idea why those Galileo birds have all malfunctioned so badly. What's that? They were over New Mexico when they malfunctioned? Hmm. Maybe the space aliens from Roswell are the culprits here."

Perhaps we ought to put an orbital mirror or four up. Call them weather satellites that didn't make it into a proper orbit, or something like that.

You can then fry `em from ANYWHERE.

The Euro-Peons are less and less our allies of any sort.

They'd better watch who they allow to use Galileo, or we just might figure out HOW to JAM it - or worse.

Beginning in 2008, Galileo will supplement and improve on the accuracy of existing GPS satellites, serving consumers around the world.

By 2008, we should have a few laser platforms operational. Say what EU, another one of your sattelites malfuncted over the ME? Oh the whatta shame. Hehehe :-)

hmm, shooting down satellites belonging to our closest allies,

In order for an allies to be useful they must be capable of military force. This is not really the case with Europe.

They must also share a common world view. Given that modern Europe openly despises the United States and the principles of a Constitutional Republic, I see no reason to keep relations cordial.

Fascism is coming to Britian or France in the next 10-15 years.

Or rather, both in the form of the EU.

Europe has long been fascist and, since creating the Frankensteinian and anti-American eUSSR, [EUrinal Union of Sociafascist State Rulers] has been [Along with, let US not forget, its puppet-satelite state, Canada] effectively and actively unfriendly.

[As measured by its Neo-Axis Member States -- and Canada's -- overwhelmingly anti-American UN voting records!]

Galileo will most certainly be targeted for should-the-need-arise instant disabling/destruction.
