FEMA Preparing for Mass Destruction
Newsmax: The Insider Report email 07/14/2002

Posted on 07/14/2002 7:45:49 PM PDT by iowaboy

FEMA, the federal agency charged with disaster preparedness, is engaged in a crash effort to prepare for multiple mass destruction attacks on U.S. cities, NewsMax has learned.

FEMA is already preparing for nuclear, biological and chemical attacks against U.S. cities, including the possibility of multiple attacks with mass destruction weapons.

The agency has already notified vendors, contractors and consultants that it needs to be prepared to handle the logistics of aiding millions of displaced Americans from urban areas that may be attacked.

The agency plans to create emergency, makeshift cities that could house hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans who may have to flee their urban homes if their cities are attacked.

Ominously, FEMA has been given a deadline of having the cities ready to go by January 2003 - in about six months.

A source familiar with the deadline believes the effort is related to making the U.S. prepared for counterattacks if the U.S. invades Iraq sometime next year.

FEMA is currently seeking bids from major real estate management firms, and plans to name three firms in the near future to handle the logistics and planning for these temporary cities.

FEMA officials have told these firms they already have tents and trailers ordered. The tents and trailers would provide shelter for displaced populations.

The real estate firms are expected to provide engineers and architects to lay the plans for emergency infrastructure needs, such as sewerage and electricity.

I got this in a Newsmax Insider Report email - I'm not trying to be an alarmist, and I know this type of thing has been a part of emergency plans since WWII, but it's kind of freaky...is everything on Newsmax reputable?

Makeshift cities? Why not a makeshift nation? We could use it as a ruse or a decoy to draw enemy fire. We could defend it with makeshift military formations.

this type of thing has been a part of emergency plans since WWII

Civil Defense was mainly there to save a few people in case of nuclear bombers, then sometime later it became FEMA, still responsible for doing something in case of nuclear attack. They have branched out in the past couple of decades to doing something in case of any disaster, none of which compare to a nuclear disaster, in fact they have nothing about a possible nationwide nuclear disaster for many years.

Nothing.

Heck, it worked in Blazing Saddles. Why don't we create duplicates of major cities to trick Mongo and his swarthy band of terrorists.

FEMA has lots of job announcements on their web site. Usually they only have 10 or 15 openings. Now they have over 100.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else get the feeling that perhaps there is more here than we are being told?

Like maybe we're going to get hit by a meteor, a really big one, rather than have the Iraqis, Iranians, North Koreans or Chinese decide to start a nuclear war?

Frankly I don't believe any of those nations, on their own, could start a war with us and have a reasonable expectation of winning it. The idea that they would unite and fight us as a front ignores the economic reality of China, the domestic reality of Iran and the fact that the North Koreans are devastated by famine. That leaves the Iraqis and they really are isolated.

Something here isn't adding up.

How reputable Newsmax is really isn't the question, because there is no doubt that FEMA is preparing for disasters -- that's pretty much all they ever do. It's more like making a scare-story out of normal business, something that every news source does by rote these days. Sort of like getting people all hot and bothered by stories like: "Soldiers training to fight war!"

Have to get people to read, so if there isn't something really big attracting people you've got to scare 'em into reading.

Foil suit on. Some are going to say that these are actually the internment camps for all of us once the Feds launch their attacks on the US homeland, and martial law is declared. /Foil.

What's the chance that these may actually be the new internment camps for all the Muslims? Hoping that is the case.

All you have to do is close the borders and get these Arabs out of here but I guess we have to die.

Why must we die? We must die so that we can be politically correct and maintain some liberal's "moral high ground", and so we can be more compasionate than thou.

If another attack should befall the US, Bush43 will be unable to resist the clamor which will arise, for immediate retaliation. Saudia Arabia should be warned that if these ba$tard$ should again attack the US in the name of Islam, then in the name of Islam shall the reprisals be made. Mecca should fall within days.
