Yeah, I tend to agree. I don't feel for the animal, since it is just so much walking meat - not much "mind" in a kitten, or any animal for that matter. But it says something about a person that ENJOYS torturing an animal. He has some issues. They probably aren't a risk to humans since most people who do this sort of thing draw a line between human and animal - they don't respect animals as "human" as the animal rights people do. That's the reason this kind of thing seems soooo sick and terifying to animal rights activists. To them, a kitten is the same as a child, so this guy did the equivalent of puttin a baby on a grill, at least in the animal rights activists mind. The fact that what this guy did is a crime, however, is absurd!

The only thing 'absurd' is that you would think torturing an animal would not be a crime.

And stop covering your own perverted values with 'anti-animal activist' rhetoric.

What animals "feel" is not what I would interpret as "suffering" in the human sense. I admit this guy does have issues though. He may only be dangerous to his own pets, of course, but if this kitten belonged to someone else, he did cause suffering on the part of the animals owner and should suffer consequences. I ran over a dog once and felt nothing for the dog. The owner was devastated, however. It was as if she had lost her husband. I did feel bad for her - I felt REALLY bad for her. I didn't do it on purpose, but I still felt bad. But ALL of my bad feelings were for the HUMAN owner, not the soulless walking meat.

It was when Christianity was still vibrant(19th century) that people took concern for animals, knowing that they were God's creatures.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel (Pr.12:10)

They probably aren't a risk to humans since most people who do this sort of thing draw a line between human and animal - they don't respect animals as "human" as the animal rights people do. Personally, I think people who would do this draw the line much closer to home... They draw the line at "Me" or "Not Me". I would not expect these guys to show a lot of empathy toward anything or anyone. To them, a kitten is the same as a child, so this guy did the equivalent of puttin a baby on a grill, at least in the animal rights activists mind. Perhaps for a few... However, I think it is equivalent to putting a kitten on a grill, and I still find it repulsive and am pleased that it is criminal. One does not need to think human and animal are equal in order to believe wholeheartedly that animals deserve to be treated humanely by people, for their own sake.

Amen! This is the fake conservative view 'well, the animal activists are for 'animal rights' so I will show how conservative I am by defending the torture of animals.

See how conservative I am!

I am beginning to realize that the phrase "walking meat" is what has everyone in a twitter. Let me put it this way, without the human spirit, a human is nothing more than so much meat. It is the indwelling of this spirit, in the image of God, that makes a human more valuable than any animal. Take away the spirit and the human body is nothing but an empty house. So much compost.

Animals very much serve psychological function. It may come as a shock but I can believe my dog has a humanlike personality as much as I can suspend disbelief and enjoy the idea that there really is something called Yoda. But in both cases, I know it is just an illusion. But I still enjoy both.

The bible verse is one I understand to mean that the "tender mercies" of a wicked man are cruelty. So, this man is wicked. OK, but I don't think that is against the law, evil as it is. If we could define being wicked as a crime then we could lock him up.

But wait, ALL MEN ARE WICKED according to the Bible, varying only in degree. Yikes! What do we do now?

I'll try to focus on my own improvement and let God pass judgement on this kitten cooker.

Regarding the 19th century, you weren't there. If my livelyhood depended on the health of my animals, you better believe I would take care of them. Those that keep the oil changed in their cars are equally showing a sense of responsibility for what God has trusted to them. Likewise, those who keep moss off their roof.

Everything is God's, and at our best we treat His creation with respect.

My wife and I dumped tv five years ago. Maybe that's why so few here seem to be getting what I am saying - I have been split off the american culture. I am exposed to tv on a very rare occasion when I go to someone elses house. In my opinion, guys who are cruel to animals are the least of our problem, sick though they are.

Regarding TV, our culture really is the frog being slowly boiled alive. I realized a couple of years ago that the water was extremely hot when I got out five years ago. It's far, far worse now.

There, now that's something I think is REALLY evil!

Oh--you're a 'creationism apologist'

Wrong thread. And the backhanded insults don't reinforce any musings on my part that you would be a worthy debate opponent.

But DO try me on one of the evolution threads!

Agreed!!! If I ever saw anyone do this there would be one less human on this earth!

A little defensive, aren't we, about not being the sharpest knife in the drawer? Australopithocenes? Fossils? Placed here by God to judge our faith, right? Carbon-dating? Another fallible human experiment, correct? Dinosaurs? Didn't they all die in the flood? Come on. I've read your stomach-turning posts on this thread, became curious about your background and read the profile that YOU posted. I don't care for fundamentalists of any stripe, and you've proven to me that you are one of the worst examples of the breed. And I'll check out the evolution threads--I can't usually stomach them, but thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

"I'd say that whichever church you attend needs to be purchased, the building destroyed and the ground salted and prayed over."

Bravo. I couldn't agree more.

"not the soulless walking meat"

FYI, here's a little Bible lesson for you. The Hebrew word translated "soul" is nephesh (strongs #5315). This same Hebrew word is translated "creature" many times and applies to animals.

Gen 2:7
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (nephesh, 5315).

Gen 1:24
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature (nephesh, 5315) after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

The Biblical concept of soul applies to animals in the same way as humans. (And by the way I ate 2 hamburgers, sausage, eggs and a hot dog yesterday)

That is, I knew I would be missunderstood and, therefore, cause some strong emotions

So, in other words -- much to the contrary of your earlier claims -- you just got a charge out of causing (emotional) pain in the various HUMAN denizens of Free Republic.

You know, the humans with souls that therefore should never be tormented by another person.

You know, the humans you just purposefully and with malicious forethought, tormented for the entire afternoon.

Gotchya.

You are a sick piece of feces and I feel sorry for anyone in your sphere of contact.
