Um, I live in Pasadena. There was no "explosion" to speak of.

Not to be the post police but...

I still have not figured out why they have downgraded the military alert, we are on Alpha here, even though we had threats here in San Antonio just last week. They have, however, been doing random searches and 100% ID checks. This guy must not have had access to a computer, you can get maps of nearly every base in the U.S. on the internet. I keep copies of local base maps on file for visitors and new employees.

Bro you are crossing the line on that one.

Too much info.

It might be info available in other places but regardless it wasnt neccesary.

Relax that.

Didn't that manhole thing happen in NYC too? Several blew straight up into the air. Scared the bejesus out of everybody. Does anyone recall that?

It did indeed, about a month ago - they shut 34th Street down for a couple of hours. I didn't mean to shift the discussion to the manhole explosion that happened yesterday - I brought it up because one of the posts on that thread mentioned that there was a Coast Guard facility nearby so I thought there could be a connection with the military diagram this guy was carrying (I can't seem to get past the "Pasadena" name coincidence). When you research the issue of sewage systems and manhole covers it's just amazing how much damage one can do to the infrastructure through this venue. From the information I've just come across, Homeland Security seems to be on top possible underground scenarios.

It happened here in Pittsburgh, too, a few weeks ago...in Oakland, the University section of town. It caused a major power outage and the most horrific noise -- I've never heard anything like it. It was played down, of course. Is this something that happens often? Is it significant?

Useless fact of the day.

Pasadena supposedly means "Between the moutain and the sea" reffering to a rare geological structure behind the Pasadena skating rink (for which the nearby Moutain Road was named) and the close proximity to water.

A. I am happy to hear of your glorious feminization.
B. I made it plain that it didnt matter if any of the
information was public or not.
C. Are you currently in the Military? If so what unit?

You simply provided far too much information considering that the bulk of it wasnt relevant to the original story. Writing what the current security proceadures are and the state of Alert in a given area...on the internet...gives anyone access to that information.
In and of itself is it harmless...fairly so.
Taken together with other information that may be gathered about American security proceadures ina particular area [Which you also provided]and you are giving pieces to a puzzle. Whether or not it is public information is inconsequential...you are packaging it nicely for anyone who may be looking for it.

There is a reason we have the words "Loose Lips Sink Ships" listed on every posting box.

Relax. Well, don't RELAX, but please lay off Ravingnutter. Maps of most military bases in the U.S. are NOT secret. They are SO readiliy available that I can't imagine a terrorist needing this thread to point him to them. Please.

Another brilliant retort.

Gee thanks for the enlightenment. My original response and subsequent posts remain.

In times past I wonder how many "out of the loop" types offered up excuses for their vain condescension in light of stated facts.

I'd rather be mistaken than right. I'd rather there not be any illicit organizations running programs developed specifically to troll the www for keywords and relevant information pertaining to American security and proceadures in order to pinpoint weakness'. However I know for a fact that it is performed. How about some of us growing up.

My subtle rebuke of whoever she is was competent and appropriate. If you dont agree, that is fine...but honestly...wasting the bandwidth to let me know...or probably more to the point...trying to impress her?

C'mon.

If we just keep harrassing these SOB's, maybe they'll all just leave.

To do that successfully, we would have to be able to harass them even more than the dictatorships they ocme from can harass them... since we aren't into stonings, beheadings, and administering lashes, I don't think we are going to have much luck harassing them into leaving the safety of this country and our always helpful lawyers.
