I'm against those committing fraud and using stolen Identification etc, and those illegals working for the drug cartels...

Who isn't?
Let's hope the problem continues to improve.

The same government that has a "shoot to kill" policy on its southern border has NO right to criticize us for making a half of a half-assed attempt at defending ours!

They are purposely making things bad for their own people so they will actively make the decision to cross the border into the US, therefore relieving the Mexican government of the burden of providing services.

Behind China and Islamic terrorism, Mexico is next on the greatest threats to America, in my opinion. I will go on record and say that all three are linked in some way.

those having babies just to obtain a welfare check and citizenship.

-----> It's beginning to look like Alejandro Avila's dad is/was an illegal alien. Making Alejandro a semi-anchor baby. Dad was sent back to Mexi in year 2000 after completing his stretch in prison.

I do understand the dynamics of Mexican illegals contemplating the wisdom of coming and going as they once pleased -- I just question the addition and subtraction of certain INS officials...

Trust me the numbers are correct, but with any statistic, they can be manipulated to the users liking.

It’s the numbers they don’t tell you about that are the concern.

Didn't the Chief Border Agent in Arizona move agents away from the easiest places to cross and move the agents into position to keep the illegals from entering the desert?

When Arizona sent National Guard troops to support the Border Patrol, at the official border crossings, didn't they move troops that were patrolling the Coronado Forest on the border already? They left the forest unprotected.

Arizona pulled National Guard troops from where they were needed and put them where they were useless, right?

I believe the Border Patrol has generated these reductions in apprehensions by leaving big, gaping holes for the illegals to sneak through. They've moved agents to the desert 'to save lives' and have taken the National Guard out.

The Border Patrol guesses how many illegals have slipped in by multiplying the number apprehended by some factor. How many do they claim they've apprehended, each month, and by what factor are they multiplying that number to create their guess-timate, now.

I agree with F16Fighter on this one. I believe these numbers are a bunch of crap.

Yeah sure, let's believe their "statistics" and not our lying eyes.

640,000 illegal scumbag aliens caught between October and May. Okay, now let's multiply that by a facator of four (the Border Patrol says they get about one in four illegal scumbag aliens breaking into our country) and we get roughly 2.5 million illegals since May who have gotten in. Since INS chief Ziglar says it's "irrational" to expect him to round up and deport these criminals after they've already gotten in, that means two and a half million illegal scumbag aliens, many of whom could be anti-American Islamist terrorists, are snug as a bug in an American rug.

Okay, let's now multiply that 640,000 by a factor of ten, which I've heard mentioned by others and we have...well, you can do the math.

Even if we go by the more conservative Border Patrol numbers, that's still way too many!

So the article hints that the numbers are slightly down...so what. There are still too many illegal scumbag aliens getting into our nation, threatening our economic stability and possibly our national security. But you seem to not be bothered. In fact, judging by your past contributions to illegal scumbag alien posts, you seem to favor people breaking into America's house and threatening us. Agenda? Yeah, I have one. Evidently you do to, dude.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

FITZ continually posts unsupportable, unverifyiable claims from "personal recollections". When asked, he has zero to back anything with, other than his own ability to type that is.

That's what I think they're doing, I don't think we've ever seen a foreign government or it's leader as actively involved in immigration to the US, Castro did it but his was much more limited. I don't blame the victims of that government but our government should get the upper hand in this issue and make Fox quit trying to call all the shots.

I wonder if they voted Republican ---they don't sound very conservative or with the good family values we keep hearing about.

This is stupid. They have no way to know how many illegals have crossed. They're only counting how many have been detained which leave out all of those that slipped across undetected. There have also been reports of BP agents given instructions to purposely do things which would lead to less captures and to underreport some captures.

Living on the border, I don't see the number going down. What I do see is that the inept BP management are playing political games for some reason.

"FITZ continually posts unsupportable, unverifiable claims..."

Hey Luis, everyone doesn't have your gift for making BS up and spinning statistical evidence to fit your twisted view of society.

Somebody in our present administration does, though.

LOL!

Wanna know when we'll know for sure when U.S. border patrol, INS, and Homeland Security are making a substantial dent in illegal immigration invasion?

When Vincente Fox holds a huge press conference accusing the "U.S. aggressors and President Bush" of "virtual war against Mexico by harrassing and murdering it's poor innocents"...

To compound the irony of Fox's absurd accusations we'll then discover Fox's political consultant had been none other than James Carville.

Excellent point. If Fox and Castenada aren't screaming, the border's still as wide open as it ever was.

for the relatively few that come over to actually do a certain kind of work that Americans really don't prefer to do

Over close to where I live, the Hispanic population has jumped from near zero to over 5000 in the town of Fort Payne. Fort Payne is officially the "Sock Capital of the World" and has a huge Sock Industry that probable produces 30-40% of the USA socks. It is one of the very few textile industries that has yet to go overseas/border. It has usually basically been the main staple of work for most of the county. Kids getting out of high school had a job, but since the influx of illegals, it is very difficult to find a job for local ladies (many who are elderly). The mills have started dropping production rates/insurance/401k/pay since it is no longer competive need for attracting workers. Some pay their employees via non company means to avoid IRS rules.

These jobs used to make a good production worker around 10-14 dollars an hour with blue cross insurance and nice 401k benefits. (VI Prewitt mills still offer these benefits). There was never a retirement plan (other than 401k).

The cost of living is cheap around Fort Payne so this was enought to raise a family on, but illegal immirgration has made mill owners greedy. New tecnology has enabled the mill owners to obtain machenery to drop several steps out of the production. (EX. the need to sew the toe in each sock manually is now done in one process, eliminating the whole seaming dept.). These machines are expensive so the mill owners have adopted a 7/24 12 hour shift policy. (I don't have time to argue the effect a 12 hours shift has on local churches that need men to serve in positions each weekend).

Illegals are ruining this town. Period.
