I'm not a Libertarian, but a TRUE Conservative, and I agree with much of the article. My disagreement comes with talk on drugs and pornography, but it is based on certain stipulatory reasons.

Did you not read the article?
To: FreedomFriend
That was no "article" that was a rant. Yes I read it.

Sleep tight and keep the blinds closed!
To: FreedomFriend
TRUE Conservative Define that please.
To: Texasforever
Well, your ideas aren't conservative. Check out my profile to see what a True Conservative is.
To: Madame de Winter
Will do. I'll put the blinds, blinkers, etc. in their proper positions.
Have a good night's sleep yourself.

Oh, please. I sense so MUCH delusion, so much sleeping, so much Kool-Aid drinking. Yes, I got that feeling from this article also...
To: FreedomFriend
Well, your ideas aren't conservative How would you know that? I certainly feel conservative. Now if I don't equate a telephone tip line with the East German Stasi
I don't see the patriot act as the 3rd Reich incarnated
If I don't see the War on Terror as a government plot but a real war
if I don't see how terrorists should be afforded constitutional protections, citizens or not
Then I may not be your "brand" of conservative just as I don't view the John Birch Society as MY brand of conservative.

No, I'm talking about the responses from the neo-cons, the kool aid drinkers.

No, I'm talking about the responses from the neo-cons, the kool aid drinkers. You are really into labels and clichés arent you?
To: Texasforever
Hey, if you can label, so can others.
To: FreedomFriend

Sorry to drag you away from the foodfight but I have a question: What would you consider to be an overextension of government authority post 9-11?
Honest question.

What would you consider to be an overextension of government authority post 9-11? All most everything it has done to date in regard to legislation. The Patriot Act and its provisions should have been an Executive order based on the CIC powers in time of war. Every action taken to date should have been in the narrow context of a nation at war and not in the form of permanent laws that are now left for court challenge if they are ever to be over turned. That has been my position from the beginning.
To: Texasforever
Remember, this war could last up to 100 years.
To: FreedomFriend
Yes it could but Bush can rescind his own EO at any time he deems prudent and any future president would have to justify a new EO of his/her own. T
