The Cheney Innuendo The media and Democrats gin up a phony Halliburton scandal.

Democrats in Congress purport to be troubled over Halliburton's accounting when Dick Cheney was CEO, even threatening to hold televised hearings. Well, maybe they should. If they're serious, the Members would have to probe the nuances both of asbestos liability and of what the green eye-shades call "percentage of completion" accounting.

No big surprise here, but Democrats are clearly out to win the midterms using smear and slander. They have no issues, so Terry McAuliffe has to go to character assasination instead. That is doubly funny, and doubly hypocritical, coming from someone as corrupt to the core as Terry "Chinese Campaign Cash/Global Crossing" McAuliffe. And make no mistake about it, as a secondary motive McAuliffe is a Clinton stooge out to avenge his zombie master being held accountable for REAL crimes while he was president. Let's get the word out on Cheney and Halibuton so we can begin to expose the crass, craven and pathetic Democratic smear strategy

I agree...no big surprise what the Dems are up to; they're trying to win the election.

Sad to say, it's no surprise to see what the GOP is doing about it. As is usual, nothing.

This, I think, is the GOP's view of all of this:

"Don't mud wrestle a pig, you both get dirty and the pig enjoys it."

It's not his fault; they're all against him; every person on the face of the earth has a personal vendetta against him, doncha know?

We're optimists, so we can always hope that the media will become less prone to hyperventilation as it becomes more familiar with accounting issues.
Sorry, I'm not that much of an optimist.

That would happen if journalism were not a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DNC. But that is no accident, and won't change soon.

"Don't mud wrestle a pig, you both get dirty and the pig enjoys it."

I may be in a 'fowl' (hardeharhar) mood this morning, but I'm ready to see the pig confronted, butchered, cured, smoked, and barbequed. To hell with the mud. I understand 'change' by incrementalism, but this 'pig' has nine lives, and the 'voice' to snort and grunt at will--both in print and television media. We best attempt to get 'down and dirty' and THINK 10 moves ahead if we ever expect to slow this 'pig' down.

It doesn't matter what you say or do. Bush/Cheney are equated to “evil” corporations by the media and the dems.

The voters are so stupid that they swallow it. In 2000, Algore(fer crissakes) lost by a few thousand votes!

I've voted Republican since 1980 and I see 2004 as a fight for what's left of our once great Republic.

Dem gains in 2002 will just add more ammo to a biased media.

I was just about to ask why we don't see any prominent Republicans out there explaining all of this.

I tend to agree with this statement.

The "GOP" want's to win the election too! After hearing Dubya's speech today, I sensed a reason for the lack of fight against the Dem's in the recent past. Especially if he assumes John Edwards is going to run on the Dem's ticket. I can see a political adjenda for the GOP forming to corner the Dem's with a case against "junk" lawsuit's.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I can see it as a very solid campaign issue for the GOP.

Question.
Kerry has a track history of cutting into defense/CIA budget. The DNC counterattack true? While Cheney was a congressman and later as Sec of Defense, Cheney made the same cuts in defense/CIA as Kerry.

This is my opinion. I just looked at Kerry and Edwards website. It's pretty boring. They are claiming Bush and Rice did not read the Senate Intelligence Report. It filled with myths and fables. Kerry lacks originality. No real platforms or positions...a copy cat. Not being dependent on foreign oil and saving the environment is pretty lame. Reminds me of Jimmy Carter without the peanut farm.
