Why do I feel, that we will never actually attack Iraq?

I think any attack is at least 2-3 years off, although there will be plenty of bluster and "leaked battle plans" over that period, just as there have been for the last few months, in order to keep the people ginned up and fuel the fires of the Iraqi opposition. It is sooner than you think. We have 300 million doses of smallpox vaccine on order. Those are scheduled to be delivered about the end of the year. We have 25 million doses of a new anthrax vaccine on order. I think the fastest time scale for having those on hand is next spring, and that's optimistic -- plus 25 million doses may not be enough if Saddam uses as many sleepers for the anthrax attacks as he did for 9-11. FEMA has been told to have a plan to house our evacuated urban populations in tent cities by spring of next year, but that seems hopelessly optimistic. On the other hand, the further out you go without getting rid of this guy, the harder it becomes to predict what will happen. If we wait ten years, he might be dying of cancer and give away this stuff to islamacists just for a grudge f***, or he might have transgenics which would nullify any vaccine. Then again, he might have transgenics now. So, it's a trade off. Again, from Bush's remarks the other day, I would guess we're looking at the end of his first term.

The global strategic threat

"We're going to have something in the way of a major nuclear event in this country," Warren Buffett, the second wealthiest man in the world, told stockholders of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. just 11 weeks ago. "It will happen. Whether it will happen in 10 years or 10 minutes, or 50 years ... it's virtually a certainty."

What does Warren Buffett, whose major business is insurance, know that you don't know?

He probably knows a great deal more than I know. But, because of my position, I'm blessed with intelligence sources. I'm also cursed with them.

I don't like to be an alarmist, but withholding information is not in my nature as a newsman. People turn to me for my analysis and my insight into current events. Based on what I know, I believe the next 12 months will be life-changing for many of us. I believe we will see dramatic developments and experience horrors that will make Sept. 11 pale by comparison.

You've read and heard a great deal about a likely U.S. attack on Iraq. It is coming. I am not giving away any state secrets here. Saddam Hussein knows it is coming, and he is preparing for it. Shortly, some time in the next year, the U.S. will launch an all-out attack on Iraq designed to finish the war we should have finished a decade ago. The objective will be to hunt down Saddam Hussein and his inner circle and kill them all, while simultaneously locating and destroying his growing stockpile of weapons of mass destruction.

Iraq has nuclear weapons and will be in a position to mass produce them within a year.
Iraq has enormous stockpiles of biological weapons, most hidden beneath mosques and palaces.
Iraq has chemical weapons.
Iraq has delivery systems with a 650-kilometer range and, within two years, will be producing its own inter-continental ballistic missiles with a range of 3,000 kilometers.
Iraq has terrorists prepared to bring weapons of mass destruction into major cities in the United States and throughout the West.
According to my intelligence sources, Baghdad is waiting for the inevitable U.S. attack to launch its suicide bombers and missiles.

When the U.S. attacks, a new fiendish, apocalyptic wave of mass destruction and terrorism will begin. The longer the U.S. waits, the more the threat and Iraq's capabilities increase.

The attack on Iraq, when it comes, will be severe. It will involve hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops. It will make Afghanistan look like a tea party by comparison. It will make the Persian Gulf War look like a dress rehearsal. There will be heavy casualties. Iraq will be hit hard. Casualties will be heavy – including civilians. There's no way around it.

This war will not just involve Iraq and the United States. Iran will be involved. Syria will be involved. Other Muslim states are likely to be involved. International terrorists will be unleashed from all corners of the earth.

And this war will also come home, my intelligence sources say. Suicide bombers are already here – just waiting for their orders to deploy hand-carried weapons of mass destruction in the United States. Israel and Europe will also be hit hard.

Yes, what I am describing sounds like World War III. That's what it will be. Sound like Armageddon? It may well be.

As I said, I'm not giving away any state secrets here. The U.S. government is making the necessary plans to fight this war – with one exception. It is not preparing to protect Americans from the destructive wrath of the coming attacks.

Therefore, it's up to Americans themselves to be as prepared as they can possibly be for the coming holocaust. We're on our own. The government is making plans for the continuity of government. It's up to us to ensure that there is a continuity of America, a continuity of our families, a continuity of life.

There are obvious reasons the government is not telling you what I am telling you. It would be devastating to the economy. People might panic. And, as I said, the government can't protect you – or won't.

Could I be wrong? Could my sources be wrong? I surely hope so. I sincerely and fervently pray they are wrong. But the threat is real. Things could get very ugly real fast.

There is something "important" going on in Iraq in October:

BAGHDAD, May 9, 2002 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Iraq's decision-making Revolutionary Command Council has held a meeting to discuss the procedures for this year's presidential referendum, the official Iraq Daily reported on Thursday.

Izzat Ibrahim, vice chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council, chaired the meeting on Wednesday and "discussed means to make the referendum a success," the report said.

In the coming referendum, "Iraqi people will express their free will and genuine national and patriotic aspirations" as the previous one which took place on October 15, 1995, the report said.

In the 1995 referendum, President Saddam Hussein won a vote of 99.96 percent and his presidential term was thus renewed for another seven years till this October.

Saddam's presidency began in 1979 and he has since ruled the oil-rich country. In addition, Saddam has also held an array of ranks such as prime minister, secretary general of the ruling Arab Baath Socialist Party and the commander in chief of Iraqi armed forces.

Saddam turned 65 on April 28 and millions of Iraqis took to the streets throughout the country to celebrate his birthday and they hailed Saddam as "the choice of the people."

However, U.S. President George W. Bush has designated Saddam as an "evil" person and his regime as part of an "axis of evil." U.S. officials have expressed that they favor a regime change in Iraq.

Now senior officials are saying a sudden military strike could be launched as soon as October.

Smells more like August to me.

Sometimes I get that feeling, too. But, our military was extremely low on JDAMs so it is reasonalbe that they wait and build them up.

Actually, the plants are working 3 shifts now, chuckin them out as fast as possible.

Air Force is still not totally reliant on the JDAMS, we still have plenty of laser-guided muntions.

Anyway, the way I see it, there won't be a lot of bombing.
I think there's going to be a coup in Iraq, a revolt organised by us, using high ranking Iraqi military officals.

If some elements within Iraq resist the revolt, like the RG or SRG, then some spec forces ops / air ops could tidy things up.

I think all the leaks regarding a campagin next spring are part of the disinfo ops. It's not going to be some massive quater of a million strong invasion force, and it ain't going to happen next spring.

It feels to me like a small (20,000/30,000) force of mainly spec ops, airborne forces and marines backed up by close air support and the support of elements of the Iraqi military which will turn on Saddam as soon as the bombs fall.

Of course there will need to be a large post-Saddam stabilisation force inserted at a later date till things settle down.

I feel it's gonna happen before the elections, in the Aug-Oct window. I think it could be August.

... a revolt organised by us, using high ranking Iraqi military officals.

While that is certainly an option we're pursuing, it would simply be replacing one Saddam with another. Not only do we need to remove Saddam, we need to remove the Ba'ath party from power altogether.

I see you are readying the "wag the dog" accusations.

Iraq will get what it deserves, but only when Karl Rove says so.
