I'm certain the author was not speaking for all baby boomers. I proclaim proudly that many of us were and are still role models for our children because of the way we have lived our lives in a moral, honest, sincere and religiously devout and traditional manner. I must, however, thank my parents for instilling in me the characteristics noted.

I suspect many of the young people in attendance are the children of such parents.

Great article! Thanks for the ping Poly.

God bless,

EODGUY (a parent who isn't perfect, but will never stop trying to be)

And yet the first thing to know about these kids -- the ones whose faces I was watching in Toronto -- is that they are not bitter. This is elemental in their hope -- they are seekers, not accusers. So many are hungry, and want to be filled; feel that craving not only for love, but to love and be worthy of love; to stand on their feet and say the word: "forever."

Makes me ashamed of the anger I feel towards Democrats.....somewhat.

Who is David Warren who wrote this? Anyne know his work??

But what does the comment about Gen X not even touching the ground at Woodstock mean?

Oh good, I thought it was just me.

YOU are part of the remnant that kept watch at the helm. If you and others like you succumbed, where would we be now? My father is like you and my mother embraced what I can only call secular modernism. It destroyed their marriage when I was very young. I used to like to stay with my mom because damn near everything was permissable. I resented my strict Spanish father, thinking him 'uncool', overbearing and anachronistic. He (on many occasions) threatened me with life in a convent in Spain if he caught me breaking certain moral rules. To keep me from her influence, he suffered through several international and American court battles and he sent me to live with relatives in Europe during the summer months to reduce my contact with her. THANK GOD HE DID. When I look at the problems her son (my younger half-brother) has, they can all be traced back to his upbringing. Even she admits her mistakes now and agrees that my father was correct and that he did the best thing for me by keeping me away. Thank you and all the other members of your generation that had the courage to stick to your convictions and values, providing role models for the lost generation that followed yours.
