I can relate to all this. I have gone round and round with my 13 and 14 year old daughters over belly rings as of late. My ex-wife still thinks she's a 42 year old kid and my husband in law who's sensible is afraid to wade into the mud on my behalf. The 14 year old who is a sweet girl went ahead and took the plunge with her mother's help(she got one also at age 42) before I even knew about it. I had told them 16 was soon enough and I even thought that was liberal from my perspective. My 13 year old has so far adhered to my wishes. My wife who has a belly ring herself but has removed it since she's 6 months preggers is on my side in this as well. We keep trying to insist that there is plenty of time to grow up.

It's tough when you're not the "primary residential parent". By law my ex violated our decree but I'm not going to spend a small fortune to take her up on contempt.

Tell your boys to be very careful who they marry and don't let primal attraction cloud their judgement.

I won the belly ring argument, with you can't swim for 6months after getting the ring,

two teenage daughters 15 and 17. the youngest has a heart murmur and a valve abnormality, that she has to have anti-biotics for any punctures, so she is safe for now.

Porn has had a negative effect on my life.

At the local video store, the classic film section is right next to the porn.

I'm a big fan of films from the 30s/40s/50s, but I'm too scared to walk back there because I know some old girlfriend will walk in while I'm lurking in that section and say "Hey Pardek, what have you been up to... oh never mind - you already answered the question."

here's how I think we should handle this issue; Congress should pass a law requiring every ISP to ask each customer if they want porn screened out. For those who want it screened out, then this service should be free of charge to the customer. If they don't want it screened out, then that customer should be taxed at $3 a month. In this way far fewer people would get into porn because they would not want to pay that $3 fee every month, thus they would not be tempted by it. It would be far less ubiquitous, but anyone who wanted it could still get it.

I am amused by people who get so upset about perverts killing children because we're going to have a lot more such perverts each generation thanks to the predominance of porn. Yet these same people don't want to exercise simple common sense to minimize the problem.

We have the FDA to protect us from drugs and food that is harmful to us. We have the EPA to protect us from chemicals and other bad things in the environment. We have OSHA to mandate safe work procedures and conditions.

Let me get this straight - pass a law to tax/charge people who do not demand that their ISP provide any additional services (i.e. filter porn). But when people do demand extra services, do not tax/charge them?

Or in other words, pass yet another law & another tax to "solve" the problem.
