They said we needed this bill to fight terrorism. A lot of freepers said it would be used for other purposes, and were scoffed at.

I was one of those "scoffed" at, and I agree with your statements 100%. I'm still waiting for new comments from those that assured me that "the bill only applies to foreigners, after all, not American citizens." Yeah right.

Everyone could. Look, I'm not of the Liberterian vent, but you guys have my full support when you go ofter the abuses of the new laws. This is absolute bull sh_t and even the dimest of people should recognize it.

I have not trusted Ashcroft and his assurances that the Patriot act laws and others he has up his sleave are in the best interest of the citizens of the United States. This one alone is a crime in and of itself. Where is this families right to due process and the assurance of an open and above board process?

Hmmm...my instincts would tell me to resist such an assault by this bunch, and that would most likely prove fatal. Especially against 15-20 ninja clad goons armed to the teeth. The sane approach would be to fight it in the courts, try and go after their personal assets (if possible - I am not a lawyer). If that didn't work, the only course of action left would be a move toward a covert campaign of revenge, make their lives miserable through a series of dirty tricks.
