Isn't "humble liberal" an oxymoron? Well, yes. I imagine he'd have to shed his liberalism in his march towards humility. It would be a great sacrifice for him, but with much greater rewards should he actually learn to be humble instead of humiliated.

Donahue = LOSER

Maybe a surprise to the liberal elite that usually runs New York Times best sellers, i.e., but not to those of us that listen to Rush on a constant basis. People were looking for a voice when Rush arrived on the scene. I don't always agree with Rush but he has started or bridged the gap of entertainment and politics that has led to what we have to today including sites such as Free Republic, IMHO.

Amazing how everyone seems to miss the point. Rather than dwelling on what a boob Donahue is, think of this. The mainstream press is convinced that they are not leftist, rather they represent the middle of the road. Thus if O'Reilly (percieved by the mainstreal as a right winger) is popular, and since the middle is the dominant voice (in their own minds) they only need to represent the other side to get equal ratings. The fact is, they totally refise or are unable to see that O'Reilly isnt a success because he is a little right of a centrist press, but rather that he represents a veiwpoint that has been totally shut out byh the press. Donahue, on the other hand, is totally the antithesis of this.
Put another way, if you are starting to lose because everyone thinks you are too liberal, dont try to fight back by becoming more liberal.

From Drudge: O'Reilly - 1.9, Connie Chung - 1.1, Donahue - 0.4.
The reason for Donahue's poor showing came to me in a blinding flash of insight: At his time slot, his targeted audience are watching sit-coms!
If an earlier time is choosen, they'd be watching the soaps.

"Donahue has always been preachy," said Bianco, "but the sermons are now delivered in a voice that makes you think he's imitating Phil Hartman imitating him." After 8 years of Clinton, the last thing Americans want is another Preachy Liberal....

They blast Phil's style as too old-fashioned and say he doesn't work well without a studio audience. Naaaaaaaaaaaaa ... it's because Phil is a NUT CASE!!!

Agree. I too would rather go down with Chung than Donahue.
