Good morning, Militiaman7 - I love that eagle! Thank you for your posts and kind remarks.

America is worth fighting for!

I thank and honor all those who have served our country in our military. I was never privileged to serve, but my father and fatherinlaw both served in the Army in WorldWarII. My husband was not able to serve in VietNam because of a ruptured disk in his back which made him 4F. He actually tried to go - went as far as going for his physical - but when the examiners learned of the ruptured disk and the surgery to fix it - they asked him why he was there, why he had even come for the Physical, and to "get out" - he could not serve.

His brother however served in the Navy. And I have Uncles and cousins who served....and ancestors who fought in every earlier American conflict - from the Revolution to the Civil War - to WorldWar I.

In fact, my mother was a member of an old organization: Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). One of our ancestors was a Colonel in that founding struggle for freedom. My mother attended those meetings with pride and joy! (Sorry to say that in my youth, I didn't know all about that organization or our ancestry - but I am finding out more and more now).

Every American who cares about the future of this country and the world for their children and for all human beings must be about the business of action instead of complacency, about involvement instead of spectatorship, and about active and earnest prayer instead of sitting back and taking potshots at our leaders. We need to work to elect those those who respect life and liberty to offices all over this country - even if we are discouraged and see no point in it. As American citizens, it is our duty to do so. Shall we not do our duty when others are putting their very lives on the line for us this very hour?

I appreciate these closing thoughts I discovered on your home page - well said. JL

Freedom'sWorthIt, you have become such a close friend so quickly! I am thankful for Free Republic because without this site we would not have met.

Besides of your many thoughtful posts on FRee Republic, I always look forward to the Psalm that you post daily to "A Day in the Life of President Bush" thead, also known as the Dose. So often it's right on with what's going on in the news that day. It's got to be hard to post this each and every day, but you always do without fail. Thanks!

Those mountains are a sight to behold, FWI! WOW! I can see why you like to just "look unto them".

I hope you'll feel free to use the logo any time, FWI. It just seems to fit.

Yeah, very proud, she was lucky to stay there that long, she wouldn't have taken her picture with Clinton.

Wow! That picture is gorgeous. Do you mind me asking where in N.C. that picture was taken? I've always thought that N.C. was the prettiest State this side of the Mississippi River. Everyone should travel The Blue Ridge Parkway if they ever get the chance. The way the Blue Ridge Mtns. surrounds and envelopes you is comforting, kind of like nature is hugging you.

Dear Lody, I love your southron breakfast picture.....Is there anything finer in Carolina than a delicious Southron breakfast????

And the picture and scripture in #34 just give my face a smile and my heart a lift!

I am glad you liked what I wrote on my home page.

Just for you - another place we like to go is to the NC Beaches.

Walking beside the ocean is one of life's greatest pleasures!

The character that Mel Gibson (sighhhhhhhh) played in the Patriot, is a mixture of three very real people. The only name that I remember is of course, the SwampFox, all were South Carolinians. All well respected members of their commmunities. The Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina was a turning point in the battle for freedom.

General Morgan was able break Bloody Tarleton at this battle. Here is a link to a history of the battles at Kings Mountain and Cowpens. Both of which led to the demise of the British rule in this country. http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/books/RevWar/KM-Cpns/AWC-KM-FM.htm
