Reparations for what? OR: There’s still a war going on whether we fight or not.

Woebeit reparations have become a popular raison d’être for made in America Africans to rant and rave about, as far as I’m concerned, a war is still going on whether we fight back or not. What I’m saying is, when it comes to reparations, we should adhere to the wisdom of Kenny Rogers, who advises The Gambler, “Don’t count your money until the game is done.”
In essence, in my own Outer Limits way I’ll be at war with this racist nation until somebody apologizes for making me pee on myself because I couldn’t use those White only toilets in 1940s’ downtown Houston. Reparations notwithstanding, my ancestors arrived on these shores (chained in the belly of slaveships) too. Even so, unless those talking reparations know something I don’t, we’re still fighting the same war that African warriors declared when they got off the boat in the land of the free. So you brothers and sisters who surrendered might as well put those white handkerchief’s back on your nappy heads, because America’s centurions are still kicking our butts in the ‘hood, ergo, a war is still going on.
Hey, I’m sick and tired, of being sick and tired of fighting against impossible odds too, but until there’s justice, there just can’t be no peace. I would love for America to sit down and put a pencil on the centuries of inhumanity that was perpetrated upon my people. I’m as anxious to see how much America valued our ancestors’ services as any other made in America African buck. I’m particular curious to see the price that’s placed on services rendered by our beautiful, hot bodied sisters who warmed old massa’s bed on cold nights. Oops, there go that Twilight Zone theme again. Square business, I’m not poking fun at the reparation efforts. Truth is, I’m sponsoring a youngster’s seat on the bus, when a contingent coordinated by NBUF make the historic National Rally for Reparations trek to Washington, D.C., on August 17, 2002. So perish the thought that I’m not down with my brothers and sisters or that I don’t have their backs. Then again, we’re surely not a monolithic people, because this old African warrior thinks more like Masai than Randall Robinson. Masai? Oh, either you ain’t a Burt Lancaster fan, or you failed to see his 1954 movie “Apache.” In the movie, Burt played the Indian warrior Masai, who escaped from the train carrying the renegade Apaches to a reservation in Florida and declared a one-man war on the United States.
Masai wasn’t down with the treaty that also included reparations, because he knew “the White eyes” spoke with forked tongues. Constitutional rights, Proclamation of Emancipation, Reconstruction, Affirmative Action or Civil Rights Act aside, there is a preponderance of evidence that old Masai was a lot sharper than made in America African’s intelligentsia who go for 2002 America’s okey doke today. Dare I suggest that White folks are telling us, “Okay we owe you reparations, but we ain’t gonna give you nada.” So the question is, if reparations aren’t forthcoming, just what in the hell are we going to do about it? May I reiterate, as far as I’m concerned there’s a war still going on.
Hey, I know one mosquito can’t defeat a herd of elephants, but it can sure pester the hell out of them and even draw a little blood if it picks its spots. On the real side, the unconquerable African warriors have been pestering and drawing a little blood from America since they got off the boat and will continue to do so until justice and equality translates to peace. Conversely, as long as this racist, double standard nation continues to discriminate and justify their centurions who slaughter our young warriors in the ‘hood without recourse, there’s a war going on. And I don’t think we can even discuss reparations while a war is going on. Especially when brothers and sisters in the ‘hood are burying their children, who are causalities of that ongoing war, as we speak. Need we even mention the prisons that are bulging with prisoners of war???
Lest we forget, White folks are still licking their wounds from their Civil War, so don’t count out a major racial uprising. Then again, since 9/11, I’m not about to say anything that could be considered a terrorist threat, so I won’t mention that a Black on White Civil War would be far more devastating than the Union vs. Confederate genocide. Hey, I don’t want to even think about an all out racial war. Conversely, whether America admits it or not, if they’re the nation’s heart, Black folks damn sure is its soul. Truthfully, how can Black America be separated from White America and survive? Hark! Don’t you dare try to answer that question if you haven’t read Kahlil Gibran’s “Prophet.” To wit: “And this also, though the words lie heavy upon your hearts: The murdered is not unaccountable for his own murder, And the robbed is not blameless in being robbed. The righteous is not innocent of the deeds of the wicked, And the white-handed is not clean in the doings of the felon. “Yea, the guilty is oftentimes the victim of the injured, And still more often the condemned is the burden bearer for the guiltless and unblamed. You cannot separate the just from the unjust and the good from the wicked; For they stand together before the face of the sun even as the black thread and the white are woven together.”
If profundity confounds you, allow me to break it down in Ebonics. Until White folks realize that America’s greatness is the result of Black folks’ blood, sweat and innovated ideas, there will be no justice and no peace. Furthermore, stupid bigots should realize by now that discriminating against Black folks is tantamount to a NFL team trying to win the Super Bowl with their best players sitting on the bench. Alas, until foolish racists grasp the concept of spiritual warfare and political naïve Black folks grasp the concept of reparations, there will always be a war going on. I wonder if anybody knows where I’m coming from?

If I'm reading the latest demographic studies correctly, mainstream blacks are distancing themselves economically and attitudinally from this sort of hate-filled race-hustling. Any decent man would be repelled by the sentiments in this article. The overwhelming majority of American blacks are quite decent -- and have acquired a hefty stake in the continuing success of this country.
Black on white civil war? Where does this man get his crack? American blacks have too big a piece of the pie to have any truck with such nonsense. Maybe one American black in a thousand is insane enough to put his life on the line for such a thing. If there were ever a race-based uprising in the United States, the best the ringleaders could hope for would be to flee the country before they were captured and tried for treason.
The American civil rights movement for blacks triumphed only because it had huge popular and political support among whites. Perhaps we should remind militants such as Bud Johnson that it is white benevolence, and white respect for the rights of blacks, to which he owes his capacity to rant as he does.

Those touting "reparations" should realize that:
A) It'll never happen,
B) Americans aren't stupid; they know that even with reparations, a racist is a racist and black America wouldn't change a whit, and
C) The more tomato-brains like this try to act as spokesmen for their side, the more damage they do to their own "cause" and the stupider they look.

Maybe a better place to start looking for reparations for slavery would be from the Africans who started the modern era of subjugation in the first place.

Think "The Old African Warrior" shares more in common with Charlie Manson and his Helter-Skelter ideas than he does with Mr. Washington.
You neglected to add that they were captured by *other* black warriors who were enriching themselves through the slave trade.
These blacks should demand reparations from the descendants of the black slave traders.
1. Not ONE single black person who was a slave is alive today. All are dead.
2. Not ONE single white person who owned a black slave is alive today. All are dead.
3. Racism certainly did and does exist. It should be challeneged and defeated whenever it raises itself, but let's acknowledge the truth; ANYONE can be a racist, that is, unjustly discriminate against another not based on that person's beliefs, attitudes and values, but because of the color of their skin. If you don't know me, don't make assumptions based on my skin color. Two wrongs never make a right.
4. All the Americans who lived and died before us contributed to the success of our nation. If you can argue that black slaves built much of the nation, at least in the South, you could also argue that the effects of black slavery on this nation led to the Civil and post-Civil War destruction of much of the wealth of the South that took generations to recover.
5. There are poor whites in America, too! In fact, the number of poor whites (33 million) actually exceeds the total number of Blacks in this country. That's not just poor blacks we're talking about, but includes Bill Cosby, Micheal Jordan, Vernon Jordan, and a host of other successful and well-respected blacks in this country. Are we seriously going to give them reparations for slavery from the meager wealth of poor whites? No justice, no peace, indeed!
6. Based on 5 above, how do we account for poor white people? In a land that the "Reparations Hustlers" have created, golden apples of success and wealth fall into the hands of white people because they're white. So how can we possibly have poor white people? Because the idea that this nation favors whites over blacks is NOT true. Hard work, presevearance, and a little luck is what accounts for success. If this were not so, all whites would have wealth and no blacks would have any.
7. Slavery, and then Jim Crow was used to keep poor whites down. A Birmingham iron worker who threatened to strike for better working conditions and pay in the 1930's was threatened with replacement by black workers who would work much cheaper. Threats like this were used for decades to continue to keep organized labor out of the South, and to keep poor whites poor.

Feh! I never owned a slave and damn well won't pay for something that was outlawed 139 years ago and is still practiced in parts of Africa to this day. Why doesn't this idiot worry about freeing black slaves in today's Africa? Oh, no money in that, and this is all about attempted theft from Americans.
I would support reparations to blacks on the condition that they all leave this country and never return. They call themselves African-Americans, perhaps now is the time they return to ther homeland.
You may be on to something there. Instead of looking at historical factors, as previous posters have done, it might be better to look at the psychological angle. The question then is why, deep down, do (some, not all) black people feel that they are inferior? Do some people need another group to kick around and blame for all their troubles ("white devils" or the Jews/Israelis in the case of the Arabs)?
Ever since reading Huntington on the Clash of Civilizations, I'm disappointed to find many blacks prefer to construct an Afro-centric identity rather than an American one, that they would prefer to be like Kweisi Mfume rather than Booker T. Washington (or America's heart-throb, Walter E. Williams!). But I can't help you guys on psychology; I only know a little about economics.
You really shouldn't use the phrase, "final solution". That has such very bad connotations in European history. Well, we're stepping all over PC eggshells here.

But isn't it bigoted to assume that the best players on the team are black? But what happens if they decide to pay reparations and have to prove their heritage for money? One can only imagine the consternation on the faces of a percentage of the blacks whose ancestors weren't slaves at the time of the Civil War or even worse that some of the larger slaveowners in the South were black themselves
There will be a black market industry of con-men creating false historical and geneaology records. I know many folks are already cheating on their IRS taxes in regards to reparations.
Worst case scenario is a black man traces his ancestor's back to a black slaveowner. Admittedly, it is a remote possibility, but oh the irony!
Well, I am certainly surprised to learn that Thomas Edison, Nikola Telsa, Albert Einstein, Crick & Watson, Gregor Mendel, Robert Goddard, Kurt Godel, Patton, the Wright brothers, Westinghouse, Frank Lloyd Wright, George Washington, Henry Ford, Ben Franklin, Isaac Newton, Philo T. Farnsworth, and Thomas Jefferson were black!

Yeah, I think it's best not to think about that possility, because it would be ugly indeed. Not to mention the fact that blacks would not only gain nothing from a race war, but they would end up losing a lot.
