......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Retired 08-93, after 20 years.  AlasBabylon:  USAF 1976, retired in 1998 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) after 22 years as a communications and computer specialist. Some of his awards include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal (Bosnia/Herzogivina), and the National Defense Service Medal.  Joe Brower:   US Marines, Navy Corpsman with the Fleet Marine Force (HM3) in 1981 when photo was taken; deployed USS Tarawa with 5th Marine Amphib Brigade to Iran during the hostage crisis.  Temple Owl:  US Army. Photo taken in 1948 in Ruhpolding Germany, served 7 years in the Army Security Agency, leaving as a staff sgt. in 1954.  Temple Owl's wife:  Nurse with the 11th Evacuation Hospital in Korea circa 1951. She was a first lieutenant. I have a hard time with the information that goes with the pics. Everyone sends it a little differently, and some give more than other, some hardly any info at all. (That, plus, I don't understand a lot of it) :)

I have a Red Robin family in my yard! I was so excited when I first saw them this spring! They are making their home in a large redwood tree in my front yard, and hop around my garden eating the berries and other little creatures that hop around there!

Good morning, eureka! Not sure you've been here before, so wanted to say thanks for coming and hope you do come back!

A finer group I've never seen. Service members have a special place in my heart. Thank you for your service, and the service of your families. My older sister is retired Army, and I'd like to thank her to, if I could. Men and women like these have put their lives on hold, and on the line so we can have freedom.

Last Sunday as I sat in church listening to a wonderful sermon I tried to imagine the horror of having 1 or 2 maniacs storming the service with machine guns. That happens in so many places. At almost the same time I was musing we were asked to pray for our military who were fighting against evil in our stead. That was good for a hearty AMEN!
