This is the guy who's car was found near a bridge in Nashville?

"This is the guy who's car was found near a bridge in Nashville?"

Since Nashville is 250 miles from the Mississippi, I doubt it.

This guy's car was found on the bridge in Memphis. The last I heard the belief was that he stopped his car on the bridge, got out to look, and a passing truck blew him over.

Oh, sure! Happens every day. Not.

That was one of the very weak theories floated about but, come on, how likely is it that anyone (let alone a relatively intelligent person) would "stop his car on the bridge and get out to look" ?

Just one of several very unusual deaths of some rather unusual scientists. No intent to imply anything other than "unusual"

Wiley, an expert on how the immune system fights infection, had recently studied the Ebola virus, HIV, herpes, and influenza.

Sounds like someone didn't want anybody finding a vaccine or cure for those diseases anytime soon....

I'm sure there is a reason for posting this under Foreign Affairs and only ten months after it was published.

Are we alluding somehow to Hatfill?

Your life has obviously been bereft of the many rich experiences to be gained through close association with the sort of top notch minds involved in the cutting edge of research science.

I'm glad this was posted. I didn't know, or don't remember knowing, the body had ever been found. It was an interesting [anthrax related] story, because, coincidentally, a significant number of top notch scientists had met with unusual deaths. Even non-tin foil hatters were intrigued.

If the bridge was across the Mississippi River, I would stop my car and get out to take a look!

My question/thought too...Hatfill's area of expertise is also Ebola, not anthrax...

Anyone think the whole episode of the anthrax "scare" may be a so-called "red herring"?!?!

Been there, wanted to do that but wimped out, bought the Tee Shirt! I was traveling through Memphis going to Tunica(sp?)to Gamble while visiting (conservative Republican)relatives over in Jonesboro Arkansas.

Famous last words:

Sir, would you please step out of your vehicle... Why, certainly, officer....

"...close association with the sort of top notch minds involved in the cutting edge of research science."

I'll take that comment as the humor with which it surely must have been intended :-)

As my fortune (or misfortune?) might have it, I do in fact, work in a research environment where some 80% or more of my co-workers have a college degree with 50% Masters & PHDs.

I certainly understand the humor, but my original point would still stand.

What are the odds that this man simply stopped on the bridge and stood by the rail to peer off?
