Wonderful, hilarious post! I, too, hope Sharpton is the Democratic nominee in 04--and frankly, I think he's way more honest, spontaneous, and has more gravitas than the PIAPS....

Of course, he'll lose bigtime, but what the heck? ;-D Actually, I'm looking forward to any statement Hillary! makes about Sharpton. What kind of contortions will we see? I can just see her gnashing her teeth....

I thought Russert nailed Sharpton bringing up all of the Sharpton worst moments from history. Sharpton dodged and evaded. He can't do that if he runs for President. But I would enjoy him gumming up the works for the Rats.

I challenge either Farrakhan or Sharpton to spell "Nuremberg" without resort to any outside reference material.

I agree! With Sharpton in the race, it would be worth the price of admission just to watch the drooling
hypocrisy of the rest of the party scumbags.

Sharpton never saw a TV camera he didn't like. If the camera operators would simply replace their lens caps in his presence, he'd just fade away tp privite life.

Al is using Stalin's definition of right and left. The DLC is the fascist wing of the Democratic Party. Mussolini-style corporatists. Terry McAuliffe and Robert Rubin types. Sharpton is staking out the progressive turf as his own--the true believers, the greens, the Trotskyites, the Working Families Party, the Naderites.

This is the battle the left always has. Nice to see it flare up again.

"Why does the American press even allow this dumb son-of-bitch a forum to show is absolute stupidity?"

think it is because Sharpton will go where they cannot; say things, plant the seeds of myth in the fertile 'mush-bed' of Liberal minds.

In the end, Sharpton helps them; whereas, for the sane, reasoned, intelligent individual, he just make them sick.

For Libs, that is a win-win. . .

This is funny... I read the entire Meet the Press interview with Sharpton. Here are two excerpts that show how Sharpton tries to weasel out of questions... Russert does an excellent job of pinning him down:

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

MR. RUSSERT: Are you for the licensing and registering of all guns?
REV. SHARPTON: No. I am for all kinds of gun control and I am for licensing and registering guns. I think that we must take guns off the street. I think that we must lead this society toward a society where people are not trying to solve their problems or even deal with their issues armed. I think that only leads to what we’ve seen all over this country and that’s random and reckless violence.
MR. RUSSERT: So license and register all guns?
       REV. SHARPTON: Yes.

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

MR. RUSSERT: This is how Bernard Goldberg, the reporter of this report, ended his program. And let’s watch it:
(Videotape, “Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel” July 23):
MR. BERNARD GOLDBERG: But according to FBI sources, when agents first showed the tape to Sharpton in 1983, he asked them, “What do I have to do to stay out of prison?” Their answer, “Become an FBI informant.” According to our sources, Sharpton agreed and worked undercover for the FBI for five years.
       (End videotape)
MR. RUSSERT: Have you ever been an FBI informant?
REV. SHARPTON: I’ve given information to the FBI about drugs, about organized crime. In fact, I still do. I’m giving it to them now about police brutality. The concept that I did it because I did something wrong, it doesn’t mesh. They said I did nothing wrong. So what was I staying out of jail from? I think that this is the most unusually concocted story I’ve ever heard.
MR. RUSSERT: You made no deal?
REV. SHARPTON: A deal up against what? There was no crime. There was not even—this is...
MR. RUSSERT: Did you make a deal?
       REV. SHARPTON: Absolutely not.
MR. RUSSERT: Have you ever been paid by the FBI?
REV. SHARPTON: No, I have not—not only—what I have done is try to challenge them. You know, I went and painted and exposed crack houses in New York to close. I have gone and fought civil rights cases.
MR. RUSSERT: But you’ve never been a paid informant for the FBI or any government employ...
REV. SHARPTON: I don’t think that is his suggestion?
MR. RUSSERT: But have you ever been?
REV. SHARPTON: Well, I think that I have worked on investigations that they have spent money, but I have not been an informant based on a deal, based on finances, based on any of it.
MR. RUSSERT: You’ve never been a paid informant of law enforcement?
       REV. SHARPTON:No, sir.

Sharpton is a weasel (and an idiot). (I know, I know, "What else is new?")

Discredited liar and race hustler Sharpton reverts back to his type more easily and dependably than anyone I have ever seen. As long as he continues to remain 'in character', and hold on to the 'champion-of-the-oppressed-and-angry-black-underdog' theme, he'll continue to draw a paycheck from his 'supporters'. And the news media will ALWAYS give him a forum. I believe that he belongs on television like a turd belongs in a punchbowl.

So who you supporting in this go-around? I'm for Al "Trotsky" Sharpton. Terry "Mussolini" McAuliffe is too powerful. The longer the battle drags out the better for us. We should start praising Al..."you know, he's really grown, matured since his radical days...I wonder how much of the opposition to Mr. Sharpton is nothing more than hidden racism....yadda..dada...dee."

Oh, I definitely want Al Sharpton to get more airtime for the next few months. The only real danger with Sharpton is that Hillary could one day use him like Bill Clinton used Queen Latifah in 1992 (i.e. renouncing him to show how "moderate" she is).

I hate it when the Left scores with the same trick twice...

Sharpton told Russert, "I think that there ought to be an accountability for all American presidents. And whether that is in the form of a Nuremberg trial is certainly a more technical legal issue. I think we must be accountable; we must be accountable to the American public."

We? Talk about wishful thinking.

And this coming from a clown who still denies accountablility for perpetrating the Tawana Brawley hoax.

Would Al Sharpton run as an Independent for President if/when he doesn't receive the Demmycrat nomination? I am visualizing 4 candidates splitting up the liberal/left vote in 2004---Sharpton, Nader, McCain, and Hillary---And I LIKE what I see!
