Remote location? WTF? Here are more from the same website. Belgrade was not targeted. Individual military and political instalations, a propoganda disseminating center and dual-use infrastructure were bombed. And whenever there were risks of civilians being on site, the bombings were staged at night when workers would be at home.
In this image, the tremendous suffering inflicted on the Serbs is conveyed.
Belgrade was flattened to the ground, its people consumed by a terrible firestorm. Here's a photo of it. Or maybe, Beograd survived...
They raised the bar each time and alas, NTO nearly pulled the white flag out when the Serbs were not bending nor "suffering" enough.
You make no sense. The goal was to get the Serb Army out of Kosovo Province. It was not to make the Serbs suffer.
recall the saturation bombing the US gave to Hanio that did bring the N.Vietnamese to the bargaining tble to Paris. That is with the N.Vietnamese with the bargaining strength.
Except the goal was to pound the Serb military and the Milosevic regime, not the civilian population.
No, because NATO worked to avoid any escalation of the conflict. The goal was precisely to prevent another World War I. And if the danger of Milosevic's attack wasn't high enough to threaten serious escalation, NATO would never have gotten involved.
In 1997 Albanian government collapsed due to mass robbery through state sponsored Ponzi scheme. In chaos that ensued some 500,000 weapons were looted, along with 100,000 blank passports. Thousands upon thousands of wild Albanians landed on Italina shores.
It was disaster NATO was not ready to cope with. Solution was needed. Where to send those wild, unruly Albanians?
U.S. services knew solution to the problem:instead of posing the risk for Italy and Greece, NATO southern flank ship them to Serbia. The problem? Serbs would not let those savages in, the same way other civilized countries would not.
The plan was already tested in 1995 and 1996 wargames
"Peaceful Eagle 95 was organized in September of 1995 and the training exercise took place again near Durres, Albania. Approximately 150 American and 150 Albanian soldiers from the US 82nd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, and the Albanian Shijaku Division, participated in the joint military exercises. According to official statements, Peaceful Eagle 95 was designed to "familiarize the participating soldiers with a variety of peacekeeping tasks." Specifically, these tasks included escorting humanitarian convoys, establishing and operating a checkpoint, route security, securing a fixed site, and establishing and operating a combined mobile checkpoint. The 10-day exercise created the conditions for NATO to run a similar military exercise in 1996, code-named operation Peaceful Eagle 96.
The rest is history. Serbia was terrorized by bombs, Serbs smeared and dragged through mud by media attack lead by multinational media outlets coached by State Deptartment approved Hill Knowlton and Rudder Fin.
You were in Albania in 1998, don't play "I did not know" game here.
Regarding your sadistic comments about Dresden and Belgrade, in air raids on Belgrade suburb Pancevo, petrochemical installations were destroyed, along with the chemical complex. It was 10 km from Belgrade downtown. It has caused ecological catastrophy. By God's will, another Bhopal was averted when wind changed its course during attack, otherwise tens of thousands would die.
The sheer sadism in your post tells about the mindset of the people who devised, planned and executed those raids.
Yes, the USAF bombing of Belgrade in April 1999 was not as effective as USAAF bombing of Belgrade April 16 1944 when 2000 civilians were killed, but nevertheless as effective in the long run. The cancer death rate in Pancevo suburb is soaring.
You accused me of being hysterically anti-American. Perhaps you had in mind your own values and values of Sen. Joe LieBerman:
"Fighting for the KLA is fighting for human rights and American values."
TV Belgrade was destroyed for airing pictures of the results of Humanitarian bombing

There is a balkan saying: Be careful of those who have no fear of God and no shame of people.
Cards are on the table and you are caught cheatin' .
In intellectual shootout you have no chance since you are not straight shooter. It's time to run away. May God have mercy on you.
Nice, tidy one liner.
Unfortunately, Izetbetgovich's ties to the "fundamentalists" (as opposed to the now officially designated "non-fundamentalists") predate the '90's meddling in the Balkans that was done on our nickel and "our" behalf.
When the story broke on the Bosnia misdeeds on 'toon's watch, Lake and Galbraith were fortunate because the Ron Brown plane crash and Chinagate both surfaced directly afterward, and the press has a short attention span.
After last September, they also forgot about all the IFOR press releases of terrorist training camps found in Bosnia in the spring of 1996.
