Paul Ansolabehere is a nonsmoker and marathon runner who regards smoking as "a terrible habit.
But he's prepared to sue Eden Prairie or move a 350-worker manufacturing facility from the city if it approves a proposal that would ban smoking in private businesses.

I think any anti who tries to dismiss the findings of the U.S. Department of Energy labs at Oak Ridge, should be confronted with the question: "Are you saying that DOE researchers committed scientific fraud and that their findings on ETS exposure are untrue?" I'd like to see what any anti would say in response to that question.
Environmental Tobacco Smoke Study
One man said: "Same with NYC. It used to be home to the majority of Fortune 500 company corporate headquarters. Not anymore. The anti-business policies and exorbitant taxes have been pushing them away for years."
I like the quote...
"Some hotels are already smoke-free. Some are half and half. The beauty of the free market is that they are catering to their customers," Day said. "They don't need to be told what to do by the City Council."

Hey Joe. Did you see the thread yesterday about the lawmakers in PA going after the Internet Cigarette Buyers?
Don't sound so depressed, Joe. It will be ok...
Not depressed, just realistic.
The country is so far gone that there is only one thing that will pull it out, and that ain't gonna happen any time soon.
By not programming your collectivist, socialist "conscience" that it is somehow your job to tell your employers how to live their lives.
Oh yeah, you have 75% of the populace IN FAVOR of banning smoking, and now that somehow becomes some friggin' cross to bear if you're a politician?
HA!
One more upcoming nail in the coffin for private business owners.
Further, you do realize that by giving financial advice without the proper credentials you can get your ass sued right off??
Stay safe; stay armed; smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Changing tactics. How?

Eden Prairie smoking ban debate heats upEDEN PRAIRIE (AP) -- The lung cancer death of Mayor Jean Harris and her unfulfilled last wish for a smoking ban in workplaces, including restaurants, are providing the impetus for an emotional campaign in this growing Twin Cities suburb.
If a proposed ordinance is passed, Eden Prairie would join three cities and one county in the state with such a ban, and it would be the first in the metropolitan area.
As with earlier debates about indoor smoking in Minnesota and across the country, the city is confronting issues that go beyond the long-recognized health risks of secondhand smoke.
"It's easy to be anti-smoking," said City Council member Sherry Butcher. "But the questions are bigger than that."
The intensity of the debate was clear at a forum the city council held last Tuesday. For 3 1/2 hours, about 100 people heard citizens talk about personal choice, competition, fairness, regulation and how far the government should go to protect the citizens' health. In all, 38 people spoke in favor of the ban, 19 opposed it.
The five-member council and Mayor Nancy Tyra-Lukens have not decided how they will proceed. Supporters and opponents expect any vote would be close.
Harris, who never smoked, had blamed her cancer on other people's smoke.
Before she died, she was interviewed for a video in which she described the years that she spent as a public-health physician in Virginia in smoke-filled board rooms and offices. It was shown to the City Council after her death.
"She used to say, 'I've never smoked -- but then I have, too, because of exposure to secondhand smoke,"' said her husband, Les Ellis.
Smoking-ban supporters have $200,000 to spend on campaigns in Eden Prairie and other Hennepin County communities thanks to a grant to the American Cancer Society from the Minnesota Partnership for Action Against Tobacco, a nonprofit group established with funds from the state's tobacco lawsuit settlement.

They are pre-disposed to cancer, can't understand it and need to feel the anger and blame somebody! So, who is the easy target? The SMOKERS by george! Blame the damn smokers for all the deaths in the world!
Well, when they cure death, I might quit!
He just loves coming in here and trashing us. He hits and runs.
I sure hope you intend to share, ol' buddy.
Bob and Jim. Jim quits smoking and invests his money; Bob cuts back to about a pack a day and starts making his own. Jim plays the market, worrying and stressing every time it falls; Bob marries a lovely lady who feeds him well and doesn't care that he smokes. Jim's wife, a harriden who hates everything he does, divorces him and takes 3/4 of his money. Jim starts drinking. Jim has a heart attack and dies from the stress of his unhappy life; Bob, in the meantime, is still doing something he enjoys, and has saved $395,710 by making his own. Bob and Mrs. Bob buy a boat and sail around the world.

I second that! I could use some ideas!
Maine has their twin sister: Partnership for a Tobacco Free Maine. Sure! IN SUPPORT is not a bad thing, but these coalitions are bending over backwards to have smoking BANNED in businesses to include restaurants AND bars. This was not the idea behind these programs, but the money and the power went to their heads. They became Judge and Dictators overnight.
For instance: PTFM spent $14,500 at a RACE track for ONE day at Speedway 95! They are spending thousands sponsoring "5" race cars AND several race tracks throughout Maine! This is NOT how that tobacco settlement money was to have been spent.
To advertise that they are there IF any smoker needs their help. But NOT by sponsoring race tracks, teen trips, T SHIRTS and all those frills. And by NOT dictating to private businesses how they have to run them! They have gone way over the top in their power hungry control.
Today, the people are getting wise to them and now they are afraid of losing their huge honey pot of funding. They are going full speed ahead now , trying to justify their spending spree. It's too late. To many people now know what a waste of funding it is. This money needs to go for precription drug care for seniors and for the poor uninsured people.
The PTFM put out a report on the local news yesterday that $73 BILLION is being spent in health care! I fired off several letters. $73 BILLION WHERE? Surely not just in the state of MAINE! They are in left field. They said that since they started up, teen smoking has decreased. I said "Well, the CDC just brought out a report that teen smoking in Maine has remained unchanged. Who is lying to who here?
These coalitions blame Big Tobacco for advertising in magazines to teenagers. Did it ever occur to anyone that it takes TWO? The EDITOR is the one that inserts the ads. NOT Big Tobacco. And I have yet to see a magazine for teens put forth by Big T. Have you?
The Tobacco Settlement money created monsters in each state that are nothing more then overblown gluttons. Throwing "OUR" money around like they lost a rich dead uncle. Well, my uncles are dead!

Serve 25 YEARS??
Yes, ONLY if that money remains from the smokers who pay the taxes on cigarettes. ONE reason the FBI is trying to crack down on the Internet sales! So these stupid coalitions can continue receiving their big Honey POTS of FUNDING!
