re: #23

At least some one got it right.

There are no victims, there are only volunteers.

Since that didn't immediately affect me at the time, I forgot all about it,
I was just relived to get it over with.

So much for that old saying "what you don't know about can't hurt you".

I hope you can get a good (and the right) lawyer and do as much damage control as possible.
I don't like seeing law enforcement resources expended as they are in your case...
but I suspect that you are caught up in a general philosophy about law enforcement
called "the broken window" principle.
This theory, developed by sociologist James Q. Wilson and exploited by Giuliani to
reverse some of the social decay of New York City dictates that law enforcement
not only be looking for the commission of minor offenses, but actively prosecute them.

I hope all works out, you minimize the damage; then spend some more time with
a lawyer going over EVERYTHING you can remember being involved in during your life
that MIGHT have triggered some legal consequence.

All I know is that I've kept my nose clean for a number of reasons (besides good luck).
One was touring the Lexington Correction Institution south of Norman, OK for a
college class. When I heard that inmates weighing less than 175 pounds almost invariable
end up being victims of prison rape...that made an impression.

The other reason, although a scripture, is good advice for anybody. I ain't preaching atcha',
just saying the last phrase (bolded) of this passage comes to mind when I might have "impluse
control" challenges:

Numbers 32:23
But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD:
and be sure your sin will find you out.

And I have thought of how that phrase says NOTHING about when the bill will
come due for bad behaviour.

It is astounding how many scrapes with the law you have had without ever having been guilty of anything. Not even a bad intention it seems.

You remind me of ............Me! When I wondered into Alcoholics Anonymous about 20 years ago. One of my first acts in that fellowship was to relate just such a sad story as yours about myself to one of the wizened old timers there.

He listened to my tail of woe then looked deeply into my eyes with a very straight face and asked me; "Does it seem to you that you have had a very unusual string of bad luck for the past twenty five years or so?"

Reflecting on that lovingly sarcastic question was the beginning of a better life for me. Since then I have never seriously considered the consequences of my actions to be anyone's fault other than my own.

I am not so bold as to suggest you might have a substance abuse problem yourself. But you do seem to have just the teeniest little bit of a problem with bearing the responsibility for your various petty misdeeds.

Ponder this for a bit Laddy Buck. Is it possible that some part of this string of events might be your fault? And maybe it is time to stop whining and pay the piper like a man.

I truly do hope things get better for you.

Like I said,a very sheltered life. Most americans fray on the side of the law at times, some big ,some slight and many never get caught, you must be some lucky dude or one dull person.

I've gotten popped for a couple speeding tickets. But I didn't mouth off at the cop writing the ticket. Amazing how my speeding stops never escalated into shootouts with the police like the late and somewhat lamented Freeper matsuidon.

You sound like the kind of person who could benefit from watching the Chris Rock video, "How Not to Get Your Ass Kicked by the Police."

When you are dealing with an LEO and you might get arrested:

Be quiet.

Keep your mouth shut.

Shut the heck up.

(And always assume that you might get arrested when you're dealing with an LEO.

When you go to Court: NEVER PLEAD GUILTY JUST BECAUSE THAT'S THE MOST CONVENIENT SHORT TERM COURSE OF ACTION.

(Yes, I'm shouting.)

Let's put it this way: if you're thinking FoxPro got himself a raw deal and didn't do anything wrong, you don't even have as much good sense as God gave a crabapple.

Like I said, I seem to just not get into trouble pulling the sort of moves FoxPro did.

Like you, I did a bunch of screwing up in my early life. The best advice you are getting here is from those who tell you to get a good, connected Ohio lawyer and do what he tells you. Don't talk to court officials or law enforcement personnel yourself. The lawyer talks, you don't. It's going to cost you money. If you have to borrow it, do it. Best of luck.

Plead innocent to the DUI charge.

Amendment IX:

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to DENY OR DISPARAGE others retained by the people."

You have the right to ingest the chemical of your choice, drive your private auto on your tax funded roads.

Read the 10th Amendment. States do have, with the consent of their citizenry, the right to demand that you refrain from operating your private automobile on tax-funded roads while your motor skills and judgement are impaired due to ingesting the chemical of your choice.

Like Ted Nugent says at his hunting camp: "Feel free to partake of firearms. Feel free to partake of alcohol. Please do not partake of alcohol and firearms simultaneously or in very close sequence. This is why the Bureau of ALCOHOL, Tobacco, and FIREARMS is such a stupid idea."

Tell that to the cop after he arrests you for driving drunk and see if he lets you go.

Tell it to the judge at your trial and see if he lets you go.

Tell it to the family of the guy you killed while exercising your "rights" and see if they forgive you.
