I had a terrible case of flu in the fall of 1957. My husband was sick for more than a month with flu in 1965. I wonder which strains they were?

I wonder if these numbers are correct, and if so, what if a few people who were infected traveled outside of Madagascar? And why have we heard nothing about this on mainstream news? Too many questions.

15 years ago. That was around the time I had the worst flu ever. I had a fever of 103 for 5 days and I couldn't stay warm. It took me a while to get over that one.

I read something a few years ago on Population Fatigue, a theory some scientists were working on. They were very pessimistic that because of the huge population inhabiting the earth now, some killer disease or wars would break out to reduce the numbers to more manageable levels. Think I'll look that up to see what is being said about that.

I seem to recall that flu mutations occur in two different ways. The "regular" way is for some variation in the viral sequence. This is the year-to-year variation. If I remember correctly there is some "left over" immunity because the mutation is small. That is why we can fight it off so easily.

Then, every once in a while, there is a major mutation caused by a "chunk" of viral sequence being swapped with another. This sort of mutation (as I recall) is much much harder for our bodies to fight and has the more dramatic impact.

This thread is simply about a flu outbreak, not "population fatigue," but since you brought up the subject, we will discuss that agenda.  Please check out globalism and its intents regarding population control. Include in your search: United Nations, Agenda 21, abortion, eugenics, and assisted suicide.  Also look for yet another False Prophet known by his stinking fruit:  The Rev. Environmentalists are Satanists masquerading as normal people.  They want to kill people in large numbers per Agenda 21; see link below*!  The "media" is their lying member to deceive the seducible-sheeple into running to embrace their own death.

It does appear that the Pale Horse is running. I wonder if he is being spurred on by globalism or some other beast in the interest of saving the planet by what it determines as excess population and useless eaters.

My thoughts exactly.

Excellent ... thanks for the flag.

To your links, I'd definitely add a post I'll dig up for you on the 1970 report of the GOP's "Earth Resources and Population", George H. Bush, Chairman.

Thanks for ping and also for you great links, 2sheep. Stay healthy!

I never get flu or flu shots....the only year I got the shot, I came down with terrible case of flu. Lesson learned. This year's shots would not be effective against this Madagascar strain in any event.

The political situation in Madagascar is undoubtedly contributing to impoverishing the poeple and spreading disease. From state dept web site, http://travel.state.gov/madagascar_announce.html

"The Department of State urges Americans to exercise caution when traveling to Madagascar. The difficult political situation that gripped the country since the December 16, 2001 presidential election is over. The government of President Ravalomanana now controls all of Madagascar. Former President Didier Ratsiraka, who refused to accept the High Constitutional Court's ruling on the December 16 election results and its swearing in of President Ravolomanana, left the country on July 5; many of his closest supporters and allies have done the same. The prospect of violent clashes between opposing political camps is now believed to be extremely low.

"The six-month long political crisis severely damaged the economy, affecting virtually every sector, and it will take at least a few months for the overall economic situation to return to normal. Commercial transportation to and from Madagascar is being restored, but flight availability will be problematic in the near future. Airlines servicing the country are adjusting their flight schedules in response to changing circumstances. The destruction and subsequent repair of four bridges leading to the capital and numerous roadblocks may delay overland travel. Road barricades that affected the capital of Antananarivo and other major cities have been removed. Fuel supplies in Antananarivo and surrounding communities are returning, but availability is limited. There are shortages of medical and food supplies in all parts of the country, and some areas have curfews."

I didn't intend to get off topic; I was responding to maxellp's post #19.

However, thankyou for the links, they look very interesting. I am aware many Jew's during Hitler's time were rounded up while trying to hide in remote locations. Flus find remote locations as well. We have a cemetary here with many tombstones with death dates of 1918.

I live in Central New York State and a few years ago numerous dead squirrels were being spotted along roads. They were not hit by cars - they were just dead - no blood or injuries - laying along side of roads. There never was an explanation for the dead squirrels. I was quite a few of them myself. Too many squirrels and nature took over?

Squirrels usually die of mange. It happens every so many years. Currently we have a bumper crop of squirrels here in Missouri, but a few years back there were almost none as they had all died off from mange.

I've been checking google everyday since I read this thread, and there doesn't appear to be any new information since Aug. 31. And it's nowhere in the mainstream media. I'm going to keep my eye on this one.

No. Best way to follow this is on Pro-med, and even they have been kind of quiet. Maybe there would be something in the local press, though.

I looked again today on google and yet again there is nothing. The last report I believe was on 8/31. I find it a bit strange that no information on it is to be found anymore. I will look at pro-med, however I expect to find nothing there either. It appears that there is now a total news black-out on the situation and I wonder why that is. I may check the CDC site but I doubt there will be anything there either.
