that pesky thing called the truth
I think that "pesky thing" will always be the key to Gov. Bush's victory at the polls, in any election, now that he has a record to run on. He really does have a solid record of achievement -- the kind of record any political leader would want to run on.

FL's economy, and jobs for FL citizens -- in short, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - doesn't even show up on the radar screen for Janet Reno. Here is what her campaign web site lists as the "issues":
--------------------------------
Issues
Education Fixing our education system is the key to Florida's future.
Health Care and Prescription Drugs For too long, our state has lacked real leadership in providing quality health care. Read Janet's Affordable Prescription Drug Plan Read Janet's Accessible Healthcare Plan
Environment Florida's future depends on the responsible use of our natural resources.
Public Safety Janet will continue to provide our state and local law enforcement officers with the resources needed to keep our neighborhoods safe and drug-free.
Leadership Florida lacks leadership in the governor's mansion. Janet Reno has a proven record of responsible and effective leadership.

FV, see my post #42 - how does McLawyer's site define the "issues"? His site is such a drag for me to look at because it takes forever and a day to load.
If you have the time to pull it up, please let me know if he mentions "ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT" as Reno doesn't.

(And, of course, Gov Bush's site does mention this important topic.)

I cannot believe that anyone would be undecided or vote for Reno. THis govenor has to be the most hardest working, accessible, informative and all around HONEST govenor that I have ever seen! Since I have moved to FLorida, I can't believe how much he has done for florida...from the schools to the everglades. FLorida is very lucky to have him as a govenor.

what percentage of "Child Welfare" staffers are registered Democrats. I'll say at least two-thirds. That's ridiculous. You can't suppose it's anything less than nine-tenths! </sarcasm>

Good thing I tune = Good thing I tuned... I thought I caught you in another hiccup somewhere, and was going to joke about it . . . but now I can't find it. And I thought, Oh well, if it's that subtle, cut summer some slack--and point out how very well written the piece actually is!!

McBride has two under the radar web sites too that only his supporters know about. Freepmail me and I'll freepmail them back to you. I don't want to give them any publicity. I guess he's got 1. official web site 2. naughty web site 3. underground, dirty dealing web site. FV

Thank YOU! Actually, in my teacher mode, I was later thinking: I should have edited this piece more, and fixed the two typos, and used some other words, but I think the main idea still comes across -- at least it did to you. And, that certainly counts! :)

BTTT, and I know plenty of FL Dem voters -- young, middle-aged and old -- who feel the same way you do, Sungirl. Thanks for your post. :)

BTW, FYI -- a columnist who did NOT vote for Gov Bush in 1998 explains why she is voting for him this time arounhd:
AN EARLY 'VOTE' Governor's earned second term (Jeb Bush...FL)
Her comments echo yours in certain respects:
[re Gov Bush:] ....He's a quick study who has grown in office. After a boyishly shaky start, he has been gracious under criticism, reasonably honest and undeniably dedicated. His administration is remarkably efficient, by Tallahassee standards; and the career state bureaucrats who have earned respect for doing their jobs well seem to be happy in their work -- always a key indicator of what's really going on up there.
Bush is not a statesman yet -- his biases still favor politically expedient tax cuts over meaningful tax reform -- but he just might become one. He's smart; he works hard; he has shown that he can put the interests of Florida's people first....

Re your post #51 - Can you actually pull up the official web site for mcLawyer? All I ever get is a clock saying it's reloading, and then it dies. If you can pull it up, post what issues he indentifies, if you can find it. I'm very curious what, if anything, he says about FL jobs and FL's economy.
