It's true. He was the one credited with writing the amnesty bill for Carter. I THINK this is in McBride's bio. If not,it is surely mentioned in the bio of his law firm. Part of the reason he was picked back then was he had been a combat USMC officer who was decorated for bravery in VN. All this was mentioned back when he first started making noises about running against Rhino, and this is what lead me to say back then that he was the REAL candidate, and Rhino was only there to draw lightening.
the Bush campaign should be highlighting it now in North Florida and the Panhandle where, assuming your information is correct, it could hurt McBride badly.
No way the Bush family can afford to mention VN. Especiall not when any mention they make is targeted towards a USMC officer who was a VN combat vet. Questions may be raised about Bubba-2's reserve duty again,as well as Jeb's military record. Nope, not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent.
McBride, based on what I've seen, not only isn't one of the state's wealthiest lawyers but, given his prominence as the head of the state's largest law firm, isn't all that well off financially.
Think about what you just wrote for a minute,ok? HOW could he be the head of the states largest law firm, and NOT be one of the richest lawyers in the state? He may be hiding the money somewhere, but he is surely making it.
Somewhere I read that his wife, who headed (I think) Bank of America's Florida operation, usually made more than he did.
Like I said,he's hiding his income somehow. As a good Dim,he HAS to be able to deflect talk about his wealth.
With respect to McBride's income as head of Holland & Knight. As I recall, he's worth a couple of million dollars. I agree it's reasonable to think it should be more but he's still not in the legal big league financially. The lawyers who got in on the Tobacco Suit and some of the other personal injury lawyers are the wealthiest in the state. Their individual wealth is frequently measured in the hundreds of millions. Even if McBride was making $5 million a year he wouldn't come close to any of these guys.
You're correct in that I'm always in fear when the legislature's in session. If they did almost nothing I'd be thrilled.
It sounds like you don't have a clear idea what you expect McBride to actually do. You seem to want him as some kind of pot luck political choice. Let's put him in and see what he does. Pretty strange if you ask me.
I think his biggest aspiration may be to be the father of the third George Bush to be president of this country. The Bush family is obviously grooming George "The Mexican" Bush to be president when his time comes. The question is "Which country will he be president of,the USA,The United States of North America,or The North American Union?" Granted, the last two are the same "uber nation" comprised of the US,Mexico, and Canada, but have different names. I'm thinking they will go with the NA Union thing if the EU is still going good, and go with the US of NA if it isn't. Either way,it's globalism/corporate government, and one of the biggest reasons Bubba-2 wants illegals given the right to vote, and why he has no interest in shutting down the border to illegals. "The Mexican" Bush will need their votes.
There is nothing conservative about the Bush family.
