Yes.. The entire state is taking a rap for a few social engineering failures on the part of the left . I've read some things about those touch screens and none of it was good gitmo .

That is why I said this should be fun ;)

McBride will win the primary. Terry McAuliffe's father-in-law is now McBride's campaign manager. That tells me they have thrown Reno overboard. Plus, he is getting tons of money from the DNC, PACS and out-of-state contributors. Reno is toast unless many, many blacks defy their leaders.

Major Dilema:

Will someone please explain to me who the dead people are going to vote for in this primary?

I have always held that same opinion.

Fraud, in as many forms as possible will play a major part in any rat tally.

It looks as if the victory will go to whichever candidate the professional ballot-box stuffers favor.

Drat to those cashflow inlaws ! The truth is you are correct , but I'm hoping and working for a close end around .

The goal is to get the D party along with the affiliates splintered to the micron level . The more shattered the better .

Thanks a bunch for the tip about the inlaw because it opens a few more doors of homework !

"Part of me wants to see Reno annihilated by Jeb Bush in November."

I'd rather see her win!

What better would send Jeb's brother the message that he better quit his abandonment of social conservatives now if he wants to himself be reelected than to see his brother defeated by Jackboot Janet now?

If she were elected, she won't be in office long - let alone have a political future - due to her poor health. But her defeating Jeb would sure send Jeb's brother a message. So every social conservative in Florida should vote for her!

Jackboot Janet's "girlfriend" - the issue she fears will hit Florida talk radio!

Actually the Republican Party is in great shape in Florida. The Republicans have majorities in both houses of the legislature and only one member of the Cabinet is a Democrat. It probably won't change much this year. The person with the problem is Governor Bush. He does his best to leave the impression that he carries the Republican Party but the truth is just the opposite.

Bush has done his best to attract liberals and, in so doing, has turned his back on his supporters. You'll frequently see posts on FR about how lifelong Democrats will be supporting JEB but you rarely see posts about how many JEB voters in 1994 and 1998 won't vote for him again.

McBride will be a formidable opponent who can do well (for a Democrat) in the Panhandle and in North Florida. If McBride wins the primary, JEB could be a one termer.

And that's exactly why I hope he's defeated - to send a message to his brother Dubya for doing the same thing.

Plenty of people I know agree with you. In 1994 Bush was very conservative, he had to be to win the primary. In 1998, with no primary to face, he turned left but the Democrats ran an inept campaign with a dud for a candidate. With nowhere else to go, most conservatives voted for Bush. If Reno wins the primary that'll still hold true. If it's McBride, many of these same conservatives will be choosing between a Rockefeller Republican and an ex-Marine who's sending the message he isn't anti-gun. Lots of them will go for McBride.

Very true. Jeb is a great governor, but not a great candidate.

Anybody know how the ballot looks? Could this be a factor in deciding who actually gets credit for the most votes?

Very true. Jeb is a great governor, but not a great candidate.

I disagree. He is a great candidate and has a terrific record to run on in this race. In addition, in 1998, he was also a better candidate, because he ran on specific ideas which he then implemented as governor - A+ Plan in education, FL Forever for the environment, Three Strikes law for law eforcement. None of the current crop of Dem candidates have come anywhere near Gov Bush in terms of setting forth a real and specific agenda for this state.

I think you both are way off in your assessments of Gov Bush and your claim that he has somehow abandoned his base, in addition to sounding a little off the mark in terms of the state of FLorida and its voters.

caltrop, I know you like Feeney, but let me ask you this: Do you honestly believe Feeney could win a statewide election for the office of, say, governor? I say: NO WAY IN H*LL. He is TOO CONSERVATIVE for the voters of FL, many of whom ARE moderates.

BTW, a "moderate" is NOT a raving lunatic leftwing liberal. A moderate voter will often agree with conservatives on some issues, and will vote for a conservative candidate if the belief is the candidate is not TOO conservative.

Gov Bush has implemented many conservative policies in FL - yet, 63% of FL voters do NOT see him as "too conservative" according to a recent Miami/St Pete poll. To me, that is called being smart - for if he was labeled like Feeney, who everyone agrees is VERY CONSERVATIVE TO THE POINT WHERE THERE IS NO MODERATION, then, Gov Bush would never be elected.

I think you both, and some others, are too hard on Gov Bush without knowing more specifics about his record. I realize there are a few things you don't like about him - but, seriously, do you believe this state would be better off with a governor like Janet Reno? Or Bill McBride, who has not offered one real idea? McBride's idea on education is to make sure the state can no longer identify failing schools, have the teachers union in an office in Tallahassee, and basically force all teachers in this state to join a union they have already dropped out of. IMO, he would be terrible for education, which is a key issue here in FL.

I am not yelling at you guys and it's OK if you don't like me or disagree with me, but, I really think you come down way too hard on Gov. Bush. And, you forget that some voters are NOT conservatives, and NOT liberals. They are swing and independent - and, they are the ones who determine the outcome of every single statewide election here in FL.

As I pinged you on the other thread on this subject, I think the interesting thing is that Jones's votes are still holding up. I would think that most of them will break for Reno by the time of the primary.

Sorry to have to break it to you but yes, I do live in Florida. I've also managed a state-wide campaign, run for federal office and been quoted in lots of books, magazines and newspapers.

JEB has come out in favor of giving felons the right to vote; fought (successfully) to increase the strength of the Governor's office; promoted the change in accounting for state expenditures which resulted in a "drop" in spending from his 2nd to 3rd year in office and which, the last time I inquired, couldn't permit adjusted comparisons between the two years; failed to squash an effort to expand the sales tax to services immediately on its being proposed even though he's said that 15 years ago he told then Governor Bob Martinez (privately, of course) that it was a terrible idea. He finally did come out in oppositon after the polls indicated the public was 80 - 20 opposed. His failure to squash the proposal early let it get to the point where a stacked commission charged with recommending we impose the new taxes will be up for consideration on the ballot this year. If it passes, it's likely we'll see the new taxes and the government will have more money to keep growing. I could go on but, even if you're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, you should begin to get the idea.

In some ways it is better if Reno wins. I can imagine the Cuban American community's efforts to keep her out of the Governor's mansion, for example.

This other fellow is something of an unknown quantity - which may mean that voters might be willing to take a chance on him.

Regards, Ivan
