Hell and damnation. I really didn't want to hear that news. I can only echo all the praise for the program that are here posted. There's gotta be a way.......

I just wish that somewhere, somehow, that there would be a TV channel, that would forget about ratings and money, and just produce quality shows....

Funny, I thought that was the promise of these cable channels. I have the basic cable package and I get over 125 channels (most of which are so specialized I blocked out). A&E or Arts and Entertainment channel to use it full name, is the prefect channel for quailty shows. There may be more to this then they are announceing.

I do not expect much from television, and I usually get what I expect, but sometimes they surprise me.

Yes, I watched a few of them but had the same sort of problem: well done, but hard to watch for those of us who know all the little details. I didn't want the images from the series to interfere with my many fiture rereadings of those great books. I share your high opinion of Stout. His level of craft was astonishing.

I was impressed by Tim Hutton's performances as Archie. I really wouldn't have thought he could do it, but he did. The actor who plays Wolfe did a decent job, but turned splenetic too often, didn't have quite a deep or commanding enough voice, and was not quite able to pull off Wolfe's regal dignity or sense of humor. I believe that there was only one man capable of portraying Wolfe perfectly, and I regret that it never happened: Orson Welles.

I remember Ellery Queen, didn't know Hutton was his son. Kudos to Hutton. He did a fine job in the series.
Nero Wolfe is one of the few things which turned the tv on in this house.

If there is something to be done put me on list.
