I don't know when. I first started watching these foundations around 2000 during the time of the Million Moron March, etc. They were funded by many foundations like MacArthur.

It's the same case in many other left wing causes like this one. That's where the money keeps coming from for them.

Better yet, cut the PBS budget severely, and pass a law against ANY political programming. Let them make TV shows about spotted owls, on a shoestring budget. Appoint a rabidly anti-big-government head of PBS.

If you're against funding for PBS, that means that you want to kill Big Bird.

Sesame Street already airs reruns on the kids' channel Noggin. And there are dozens of other cable networks that would kill to air their first-run shows. Besides, PBS doesn't actually own any affiliates. It could be completely dissolved and the various local public TV stations could simply make deals with Sesame on their own.
