After listening to Pavarotti sing for eight years, you can't help but feel a bit let down when the guy from 'N Sync tries to take the stage. Funny the author should include this line, since the entire piece sounds like it belongs in Tiger Beat or one of those teenybopper rags. I only got halfway through it, and I couldn't stand anymore. Barf-O-Rama!!!

The idea that we hate Clinton because he's a good schmoozer is so ludicrous that I cannot accept the possiblity that Kane actually believes what he wrote. He must have been so pissed off about some recent Bush success that he had to figure out a way to somehow throw together a Clinton-is-God op-ed.
By the way Mr. Kane, have you ever actually attended a Bush rally that was composed entirely of Republicans? Somehow I doubt the reaction there would be any different.
Or have you ever wondered, Mr. Kane, why we don't feel anywhere near such anger towards any other previous Democratic president or presidential candidate in post-WWII history?

Clinton, live or on television, always has an unrivaled ability to connect with ordinary Americans.Assuming this is even true - and I don't - the only reason for it is because Ronald Reagan's brain has been ravaged by Alzheimer's.
Mainly, because they realize as long as Clinton keeps pleading his own case in front of captivated (captive?) audiences, their attempts to reduce his legacy to nothing more than Monica Lewinsky are doomed to fail.
*snort* His "legacy" not only stopped being built on 1/20/2001, but it has since suffered at least the double blows of the postinaugural pardon scandal and of his eight solid years of inaction that directly led to 9/11.
By the way, Mr. Kane, eventually, Bill Clinton is going to die like all the rest of us (yes, believe it or not, Clinton is a mortal being), and after that point he will be judged purely by the facts he left behind and the opinions of historians. His legacy will never survive that, even as battered as it already is today.

From the many times he said "I don't recall" during his deposition, I thought Clinton was the one with Alzheimer's.

My guess: As the years go by, Clinton's two terms in office will look better and better all the time.Wishful thinking - as the years go by, Clinton will be looked at as the most disdained and divisive ex-president in history!

My point EXACTLY. It's really nauseatingly adoring.
This line put me over the edge:
When it came time for the slender-looking Clinton to take the podium, the audience saw why even neutral observers consider him one of our most intelligent presidents.
I mean, you have got to be kidding me. It's the prose of a (public) middle-schooler.

Some people are susceptible to the charm of the con man. Some aren't. Some are even repelled by it.
Your friend, Kane, is obviously in the former group. It's regrettable, but it's not his fault. He's just made that way. He's got the fleece. And Clinton has the shears...

1 fathom = 6 feet now just remember your multiplication tables - let us know how it comes out
While you're playing professional wiseass, be advised that "fathom" is both a noun (a measure equivalent to 6 feet) and a verb (to measure or plumb the depth of).
Be assured the depth of the particular stupidity in question may well be unfathomable (adj., beyond measure).
You may now return to your assigned role. But get it right next time, huh?

Do not end a sentence with a preposition! Your scornful remark reveals an intolerance, up with which I will not put.

The paper couldn't print what rightwing females think of Klintoon. Also, they have better things to do than go wherever that thing is.

This is the second Clinton article in two days that's fooled me into thinking I was reading
Tiger Beat instead of a newspaper.
It wouldn't surprise me to hear there was a big "Dreamy Bill" pinup on the opposing page.

Sounds like Eugene Kane took Monica's place under the desk (or podium)!
