Thank you for posting your memories of Sept. 11th. All of us Freepers who work in Manhattan I am sure have similar accounts. Alot of us were posting on Free Republic on that day.
Read Original FR 9-11 Threads Here. All of us will NEVER FORGET!

Thank God Bush is president. I think we all faced our mortality--purpose on this one. Never waver!

Finally, someone personally involved says he is mad as hell!! You have restored my faith!

Great post. I wish the rest of America and in particular some members of Congress wanted these perps wiped off the face of the earth. I sure do.

Actually, it is you and the rest of the FR folks who have restored my faith in this country.

Thanks for the kind words.
The part that I left out now that I have re-read my post is all of the e-mails that I received from people who I didn't know. It seems that some friends, including the one who turned my on to FR, had told people that they knew about my morning. These friends of friends sent me e-mails introducing themselves to me and asking if I needed anything. It was the most amazing thing, complete strangers just started to reach out to me. That is what makes this great country so great. The sense of community.
Charlie Daniels wrote a song a long time ago, I believe it is titled In America. In it he says something to the effect that only we can mess with each other, you other folks had better beware of messing with us. Today more than ever those words ring true.

Daniels - "We might done a little bit of fightin' amongst ourselves, but all you outside people best leave us alone!"
To: belmont_mark
Ooops, that should have been "We might HAVE done..."
To: Moi
My heart goes out to you and I agree that they should
be eliminated...anyway-anytime-anywhere....I am sure that
President Bush feels the same way...although I am on the other Coast..San Diego..we have much the same feelings
about this dastardly act..you are not alone..you will
never be alone.....God Bless....Jake

That is it! Thanks, I remembered the sentiment, not the words.

Thanks for sharing that. I was pretty close that morning, and didn't realize until later just how much danger I was in then, until I saw some footage -- especially of the south tower collapsing. How are you holding up these days?
To: Shermy
Thanks for the heads-up!
