The only good thing I can recall about the Carter era was that for about the first 3 months, it was cool to be from Georgia... that sure faded fast!
Another true story- my late first wife & I were staying at the Atlanta American on election night, and that was also Carter's headquarters... we were coming back from the Merchandise Mart, and the first word we heard about the election was passing a couple of Carter's aids in the lobby, one saying,
"Oh, well, I guess this isn't so bad- at least bribes will be back in style..."
The Dems were petty & bitter even then!

Jimmy made me a Republican for which I am grateful but he can still make my blood boil.Same for me. I always assumed that the majority of the "grew up in the '60's" people also saw the obvious with the Carter then Reagan "before and after" example of what America could be. The Clintons were elected and all the original '60's wackos came out the woodwork with their offspring, 100 times wackier and numerous than could have been imagined in 1968.

There is something about liberalism that if you don't wake up from it, you just seem to spin and spin into more liberal positions. I suspect it has to do with the compassion and guilt they feel for downtrodden. Ha!

You know as a college student I met him, I went to his inauguration and a ball. I read his stupid book, "Why Not the Best?" I was filled with high expectiations. I was a conservative Democrat as were my parents but boy did Carter get Beltway Brain fast. He was awful.

Yeah, I wonder if he could ever bring himself to call it a "dastardly attack on American unarmed civilians". Sounds like his daughter Amy is still advising him on foreign policy.
