Thanks Pippin, for your memories of that day. We had just begun the homeschool day last 9/11 when my Prayer Line buddy called, she mentioned praying for the people in the accident in NY. She said a plane had flown into the WTC. My first thought was "what a stupid pilot", but then I went down to the basement to turn on the TV. The kids came down and it was about that time that the second plane hit. We were stunned, and my first thought was "Osama bin Laden is a dead man". That was before anyone knew who had done it, but I just had a feeling. We did 'Current Events' that day in homeschool, including a trip to the Red Cross to give blood. We wanted to do SOMETHING, and that's the only thing that came to mind.
It is my hope that the remembrances don't get so overly maudlin that we forget the anger we felt that day. We should never forget, and since no one has asked for forgiveness, we can't even do that at this point. We should just remember those innocent folks who died. And we should not forget those folks who were injured and for whom it has been a long road back to a normal that is different from what it used to be.

Thanks for the ping and thanks for sharing this with us.
The memories of that day are still fresh in my mind after a year. It's as if it happened yesterday. My husband woke me up with the words,"Hon, I think you need to see this. I think we might be at war or something." When I walked into the room and saw the images on the tv screen, I froze momentarily. Then I grabbed the remote for the VCR and hit 'record'. My poor little VCR ran 24/7 for the first month after the attacks and still runs periodically, documenting related events and statements.
My most vivid memory of that day is when the first tower fell, I wailed, "ALL THOSE PEOPLE!" Those words still echo in my mind whenever I see the images of the towers falling, of the Pentagon in flames, or of the crash site in Penn.
No, I'll never forget!!

I posted my trubute for 911 today as tomorrow I wont be able to post much. But I couldn't get the graphics to show as they slowed down the post. so I used only text. I posted it on the Canteen thread.

Does anybody remember that Power Point presentation which had the pics of the attacks with that Enya song playing in the background?
If so, does anybody know where I could find that again?
Thx,
Jean
