Yeah, I've been here for a minute or two. I just have never seen that particular acronym before. But now I know.

Come check us out on the General Forum, where we were exiled! We keep up on current news, provide links, have great recipes and other helpful information, AND we are cheerful people! We would love to have you stop by!

My Dad was there too. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd.
He's 78 years old now, retired with six combat jumps. Pretty badly shot up.
To: Liz
Hey, Liz, did you know Berlusconi made millions by his ownership of TV stations?
Maybe HE should buy ABC!! Ha!
To: FryingPan101
Be sure you tell him what Berlusconi said. I think it would mean a lot to him. My dad passed away 7 years ago, and I SO wish he could have heard this!
To: Miss Marple
I'll have to check that out.

Good gracious, so did my dad!
He was a Combat Engineer. N. Africa, Sicily, Anzio, Rome, and up to the Po Valley in the winter of 43-44. Wounded, merely a scratch, but almost had his career prematurely ended by an '88 mortar.
Three cheers for the president of Italy! We're having lunch with my mom and dad tomorrow, and I'll tell him the good news!

It would appear so but there is a lot of time until the elections.
To: Miss Marple
Thanks for posting this Miss Marple, this was really great. Italy has a smart man at the helm unlike poor Germany.

My Dad was Fifth Army, Quartermaster, but pressed into the fight. Organized Italians in Milan into a repair factory, learned Italian and got sent on a reconaissance mission, and took his golf clubs along the whole way!
I am very proud of his record. Two Bronze Stars.
Tell your dad hello from another of the daughters of the Italian veterans!
AND, ask him if he attended the Spaghetti Bowl in Rome. I have my dad's program!!
To: Miss Marple
I sure will tell him, and ask him about the Spaghetti Bowl.
Dad's Italian is very good. He and mom went back last summer to visit all the places he had fought. They had a marvelous time, everyone was thrilled to see them and welcomed them back like family. Dad said that after a couple of days (and a glass or two of Chianti) his Italian just came roaring back.
The Italian Army Barracks at Marina di Pisa is STILL there, completely unchanged. However, the locals somehow got rid of an enormous German concrete bunker on the beach that dad's outfit stuffed with lifted Teller mines and det cord and tried to blow up. (It wasn't even scratched.)
To: AnAmericanMother
I am so glad your dad got to go back.
My dad's Italian came back when he had a small stroke. For a couple of days, the only person who could understand him was my sister who lived in Milan for a year!
He loved Italy, even though he had some rough times there. My best to your dad, and tell him I said thanks for his service!

I saw the Q & A and I was impressed how the President spoke, encouraging the UN to get a backbone and they're being given another chance to prove their relevance. Unfortunately many of us, I'm sure, are hoping the UN can't rise to the occasion.

PRIME MINISTER BERLUSCONI: I consider the flag of the United States is not only a flag of a country, but is a universal message of freedom and democracy. That's so nice of him.

Rats! I just remembered that you have to be a US citizen to own a media outlet. That is why Rupert Murdoch became a citizen.
Darn. It was such a great plan!
To: Salvation
Hopefully it will be burned toast! Pray that the American people keep their eye on the ball, not the lies of the RATS.
