In a defeat that startled analysts, Kennedy relative Mark K. Shriver lost the Democratic primary last week in Marylands 8th Congressional District. A Kennedy had not tasted defeat at the polls since 1986, when Kathleen Kennedy Townsend lost her bid for the U.S. House in Maryland.

didn't one of the Kennedys kidnap a woman a few years ago on a boat? And the woman actually called the Coast Guard to come save her?

That was "Patches" Kennedy. Teddy Kennedy's son,and the man voted by his peers as being the stupidest member of Congress. He didn't actually kidnap the woman. He just refused to bring the boat ashore so she could leave. He left it anchored offshore, and dove overboard and swam ashore when HE was ready to leave, leaving her alone on the boat. IF I remember right,it was a rented boat, and once he got ashore,he just got in his car and left her and the boat there. This is when she called the USCG to come and take her ashore. The boat rental business charged him a bunch of money because they had to send people down to retreive it.

There's nothing automatic for anybody in America; there never has been, Mr. Kerry said.

That is, unless you're a union boss or a welfare recipient.

It would be nice when the idea of a Kennedy "giving back" is a start up company that grows to employ hundreds and provides a useful product to be readily available in the free market. This is how a Kennedy can make a useful contribution to society, instead of having careers on the public tit.

In the family tradition of swimming off and leaving the poor young woman to fend for herself. (Un)fortunately, this one survived to tell the tale.

Har! A Sunday morning present, you're giving me.

A little noted point of interest regarding the primaries ... in Prince George's County an obscure Independent whose running mate is a woman who was homeless for years and lived in a tent ... believes contrails are poison gasses which are killing us all ... got 20,000 demo votes ... taken from little kathy. LOL!

This fellow runs every time he can and this is the first time he has gotten anywhere near this many votes.

Maybe it means that the American people are coming to their senses...

No.

John Kennedy was not a bad president, but he was not great either.

All that malarky about Camelot of course was sheer propaganda, and, to their profound discredit, millions of Americans bought it.

John Kennedy was not a bad president, but he was not great either.

By today's political agenda JFK was a conservative, far to the right of many current R(ino's). America is slipping leftward, slowly and inexorably into the chasm of Socialism.

Maybe 9-11 woke us up, I can't wait to see what happens in November.

The one thing that ALL FREEPERS can do that will make a difference is to ensure that at least TWO or THREE people to VOTE. GOP Senate and House races are crucial to Bush's agenda moving forward in 2003-2004.

Absolutely - you work on defeating Cleland and I am already at work to get Wellstone off the federal payroll.

Kennedy dynasty fades (more like shoved out the door), to make way for the Clinton dynasty. It's only just begun.

The "boat thing" was Patrick, the "babysitter thing" I believe was Michael, the one killed playing football on the ski slopes.

I cannot believe that the anaylysts were actually startled at the results. After all the scandals; what do you expect?

"After 2000 when the percentage of them (blacks) voting Dem actually increased and is a rock solid 80-90% despite Bush's unprecidented outreach and established track record in Texas, I'm not the least bit hopeful"

I'm not sure if the percentage "voting Democrat" actually increased as much as the percentage voting did...the record turn-outs (in some precincts, numbers were suspiciously high, as we all know) would perhaps be enough to skew the over-all numbers...

However, I agree with RFG...

The one thing that ALL FREEPERS can do that will make a difference is to ensure that at least TWO or THREE people to VOTE. GOP Senate and House races are crucial...

We need to encourage more people of integrity to get out there and vote their conscience for the candidate of their choice...see also post #9..."Hope springs eternal"!

Excellent, Rob. This is particularly important in Georgia. How likely is it that a Republican could be elected governor of Georgia? When is the next gubernatorial election?

And a little richer ...

Concerning the Kennedys and others quoted.

I just wish that they would all go away!

It could happen with the right candidate.

When is the next gubernatorial election?

This November. King Roy Barnes, the Dem incumbent, is up against Sonny Perdue, Republican challenger. I am not very hopeful and the NRA is threatening to endorse Barnes (again).

Our best shot is taking on Cleland for Senate. Saxby Chambliss is respected and should pull well. But, it is tough to beat a veteran, especially one who is wheelchair-bound due to his service to our country.

That would be Patches. Teddy's son and the one following in Daddy's large footsteps. In more ways than one!

There's signs that Bush is making slight inroads, and just as importantly, he's making big inroads with Hispanics, who now outnumber blacks.

You have to understand that we don't need 40% of blacks or even a majority to go Republican to win. Democrats needed, what was it, 88% or 92% of the black vote just to get to a virtual popular vote tie and an electoral vote loss. If blacks either stay home, or vote even 16 or 17% for the Republican it's over for the Democrats. Especially if the President can pull in 35% of the Hispanic vote. Then it will be a landsllide.
