Are you referring to the miami article linked in my post 10?
To: AzJP
"That Nurse in Georgia, the one that started this mess", you say?

Ah, these poor young lads - when it rains, it pours. First they get tagged for making bad jokes, then when they hurry through a toll booth a little too fast to get the money in the collector's hand, the cops chase them down, and go through all their luggage, they get on national TV and are shown looking like perps of some kind, and they spend quite a while in detention. After all that, they get to Miami, and they find out they got no JOB?
That dripping sound is my heart bleeding for them. There is a way for them to make amends, but I suppose it would not occur to them, to simply apologize.

No, I don't think so.

All I can say is: Arab medical students, South Florida - there could be very easily more here than meets the eye. A check of their apartments is probably called for.

The link I gave clears up much.

That article does not refute what she said, it just reports on how sloppily the media covered the whole thing.
To: Paul Atreides
....which causes me to doubt the media.
However, doubts and all, it still appears to me that this was set in action when she made the phone call. That call itself isn't refuted. What she said, or he said, or they said, this whole mess is starting to sound like more Florida potluck.

"The situation used to be Americans are innocent until proven guilty. Now it's the other way around," Choudhary's father, Javed, said in Sunday's South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "And even after you're proven innocent, some people like the CEO are not accepting that. It's extremely prejudiced and unfair." I don't recall hearing any "proof" that the woman in Georgia lied. Does anybody else recall such "proof".
The "innocent until proven guilty" doctrine applies only to criminal law and whether they end up in prison or not. Larkin Hospital, on the other hand, is a private business and has a perfect right to make business decision.
If you are the CEO of a private Florida Hospital, would you hire three individuals who have been accussed of threatening (jokingly or not) to kill Floridians? If you were a patient and those individuals were in a position to slip a little something into your I.V. at Larkin Hospital, would you still go to Larkin Hospital or would go to St. Elsewhere Hospital?
Let these guys sue and let Larkin Hospital counter-sue. Let's see who wins in front of a South Florida jury.

when these smart a$$es learn to keep thier traps closed they will be treated with respect IMO.
To: AzJP
Well, if they did say it, joking or serious, she did the correct thing. People get yanked off of planes for joking about having a gun or bomb, or for mailing white powder as a joke. If it can be proven that these guys said what they did, even as a joke, they need to pay some sort of penalty.
To: Polybius
I really have to wonder about people who come out swinging with accusations of racism, as their main response to such accusations.
To: Paul Atreides
And if it can't be proven?

They took their chance to be smart alecks and they lost!

If these so called students don't like the USA,
they are FREE TO GO TO SAUDI ARABIA.
Hmm over 3000, murdered on 9/11 and Islam makes no apology initially. When they do apologize they still blame it on our Foreign Policy -- which in effect is not an apology but an enabling statement for supporting Terrorism
There are hospitals in Saudi Arabi! I wouldn't trust these arabs if I were a patient in a hospital!

That dripping sound is my heart bleeding for them. There is a way for them to make amends, but I suppose it would not occur to them, to simply apologize. The apologizing needs to be done by the police. They went crazy on nothing. Then the media needs to have its hands slapped for spreading a load of false information. And the hate mongers who contacted the hospital should also be ashamed of themselves.
Good kids, did nothing to anyone, did pay their toll (one more media mistake) and passed all manner of inquisition. If there was any possible charge that could have been brought, the police would have done so to save a little face. The police should pay and the hospital should treat these guys as survivors of tyranny.
To: Mike4Freedom
(biting my tongue) The police did not "go crazy on nothing". They followed proper procedure, followed the leads, and released them when they were done.
They did their jobs. We need them to do their jobs. This was not a police brutality case, nor did they get shaken down because "they looked funny." The second car paid only after the first one blew through the toll.
Good kids? I'm not sure about that. If they're smearing HER in the media, instead of resolving this quietly, their motives are still to be determined.

Clearly, several thousand more Americans will have to be slaughtered before we get serious about profiling.
