Took me years to learn to say "Keya Paha" (sp?) to his satisfaction!

LOL! Tell me about it! Is it "keep-a-haw"? I worked for a newspaper/printer/publisher that served Nebraska & South Dakota, and we would argue about how to say that all the time. I never did figure it out. I always thought "keep-a-haw" sounded southern, while "keya paha" sounded Native American.

This is a cute one of our President.....peeking out the window.

I also like this one:

When he smiles, it's contagious because it's so genuine.

Thanks for the pics, rintense. And may God bless President Bush, the man I'm proud to call President.

After reading the Hardball with CM thread about Jesse, tonight (although I didn't see the program...just reading comments)...I gotta say this is one of those times he should shut his mouth! Bush knows what he is doing, and only wants to save lives, NOT put them in harms way.

**I cannot believe I remembered that as the last time I even saw that book was in 1985 in 5th grade. What was the heroine's name again?? When she had to sell her pearls I almost died. **

You were in 5th grade in 1985? Oh my...suddenly I feel quite ancient. LOL

Abbie Deal is the heroine's name...and she *didn't* sell her pearls. Nosiree bob.At least I don't remember that...and I just read it again. Hmmm.

*A Lantern in Her Hand* comes from the Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918) poem.

Because the road was steep and long

And through a dark and lonely land,

God set upon my lips a song

And put a lantern in my hand.

Through miles on weary miles of night

That stretch relentless in my way

My lantern burns serene and white,

An unexhausted cup of day.

O golden lights and lights like wine,

How dim your boasted splendors are.

Behold this little lamp of mine;

It is more starlike than a star!

Nope. It's Kee-ya-pa-haw, but my late father-in-law always made it sound like one word.

It IS a Native American name, Sioux, I believe...I haven't been out there for awhile, I miss it!
I do not miss the travel time however, we have to take a plane to Lincoln, then rent a car and drive 350 or so miles to Ainsworth, long, long trip....

Thanks so much for the photo! Takes me back, it does...
One night we camped out in Meadville, the sky was so fabulous, a raging lightning storm on one side, and a beautiful moon and stars on the other, in the same sky.
The night sky is fabulous there. Perfect place for a romantic night...

Can't see anything like that sky here in Maine, too many mountains and trees..but Walker's Point is only 45 minutes from here! I also loved watching the shadows from the clouds run across the prairie..could have done without the rattlers in the Porta-Potty,(Meadville) though!

LOL. Posting to you again...

Mr. B looked at me so funny the first time I said "White Faced Hereford". In New England, we pronounce that "Hair-eh-ford." He pronounced it "Her-ford."

One time he asked me, "Is that all the further along you are?" I said, "Why don't you just ask me if I'm done?"

Love that Midwestern stuff!

Asked for a soda in a store once, they looked at me like I had three eyes...should have asked for a "POP". Back East if you ask for a "POP", someone will likely oblige ya!
